Multi-ethnic? I suppose that's the difference between US English and British English. The average quaity of Thai food that I've sampled in the US is poor (worse than the UK even). Indian food in the US is on a par with Germany -- inedible. Chinese food is often very good.
Maybe you don't live in a place where there any Thai's in the US. In general the Thai food is much better than in LOS, primarily because of the quality of the ingredients are much better, and better hygiene in US restaurants.
Multi-Ethnic means that there are probably more Thai's in the US than any country other than Thailand, move Vietnamese in the US than any country than Vietnam, etc, etc, etc.

I really thought we americans had a monopoly on uncultured boors. but first "i am eighteen where can I find viagra and steroids?" followed up with " where can I find bland food ?" what other threads has this guy started? I have not been paying too much attention but what is next?

On one hand I find it quite sad when visitors to this country (LOS) make such a fuss over avoiding the local cuisine for fear of.... well, I'm not sure - whereas on the other I can understand that the problem lies in not knowing what to order or what the food contains and the possibility that they will not like it and therefore waste their money.
It's understandable again that as far as food goes it is easier to fall back on something tried and true like McDonald's (which is the reason they are all the same in the first place) and never have to worry about the local "foreign" dishes.
I think it would be a shame if hggcraig spent his entire holiday never tasting at least a little of the local Thai food, but that's his decision. I agree with Autosweep - I think hggcraig will end up sampling some Thai cuisine via his TG. If this is the case then I hope he has the good sense to open his mind, broaden his horizens and at least have a taste of it. You never know - he might actually like it.

Yes it is sad. But if someone does not like Chinese food or Italian food even in their own country, then one would assume that he really isn't going to like Thai food, and there may not be anything anyone can do about it.
Equally sad, is some punk like MarkC who criticizes Thai and Indian food in the US (which are both generally very good), when the restaurants in the UK are known the world over as serving the most bland and unappetizing food in the world.

Sad really that some punk like Mr Alan criticises English food when the restaurants in the USA are known the World over as giving the World Junk food. Never mind the quality, feel the width, eh?

dont blame the guy for being honest, I used to hate asian food....and eat meat 3 veg and refined shit as well most my life....I can see some thai girl shovelling down thai green curry with chicken in his mouth while he tries to say I loves you to her in the not to distant future.

The US does have pretty bad junk food, but I don't understand why so many foreigners eat the stuff. No one in the US who wants a decent burger eats at McDonalds, unless they are kids who are brainwashed by the TV commercials.
But the Thai food in the US is excellent. Indian food is pretty good too, primarily because we import a lot of Indians to work in our high tech businesses.

Firstly stop being ignorant, secondly I dont drink therefore I wouldnt ask for Budweiser, and people who drink cause 99% of the trouble. you call me a meathead yet im going to study Law next year, so dont be ignorant cos you dont even know me. Why should I eat food I dont like just to please an idiot like you. I thought this board was supposed to be helpful, so I ask questions if you dont like them questions dont answer simple as that.
