Cuz NEP ain't the Nana Hotel. Ergo the Nana parking lot MIGHT still be happening. There is a farily wide road seperating the 2.
I say we put up lights (in Nana Car Park) like Wrigley Field so that punters can get a good look at the meat before buying. Who's buying the electricity?
Edit #2. Having said that - Soi Cowboy is also a disgusting eyesore slum. I predict this piece of crap will close soon too.
When the Hilton or the Sheraton can come in & build a 40 story hotel on the property - who cares about a bunch of "me too" go-go's?

And then what would happen to the legendary Parking Lot Phenomenon? A whole big institution comes to an end ? For that matter, I think the entire stretch of Sukhumvit Road will feel like Samson without his hair. Walking down the long road from the Asok side I have always felt an air of culmination as I approach Soi 4. Tsk tsk.

Wait a while and at page 45 the whole soi will be down and soi 6 and 8 are going soon.......
Nothing will be going soon. It might be only 1 plot of land along soi 4 but not Nana Plaza or the rest of the soi.

A tad more information for those of you who are clearly attached to NEP by your testicles and fear the closure akin to losing a close family member.
The land has been purchased by a very influential politicians wife and family. The husband of the new owner has put tremendous pressure on the Indian partners, who own the head lease, to walk away from their obligations.
They have done this by accepting a very reasonable amount of cash and property and it is then left in the hands of the new owners to deal with the tenants. The Indian partners have intelligently realised that the cash in the hand and appeasement to a higher authority would be the gentlemanly thing to do. Otherwise possible problems for them would make continuance really not worth the effort.
Ownership has been setup in such a way that any possible repeat of soi 10 cannot be linked and most importantly "proven" back to the real new owners. Having said this, a repeat of soi 10 is not on the cards and is not wanted.
But, NEP will be closed at the end of this year. The authorities are engaging possible support for any repercussions internationaly. But, again who apart from any number of dirty old farang perverts will really care.
The thing is, they want it closed and they want it hidden in the back alleys. They do not want it in full view of Bangkoks major tourist street and 5 star hotel location anymore.

I remember what it was like back in my 1st visit in 1999... The only thing that is sure is change. Will it hurt with Patpong, Cowboy, Soi 33, Rach, etc? The place really is a dump, but I'll still miss it.
