I don't think that "gik" is a thai word..
when my g/f explained it to me it was 'gig"m but pronounced 'gik'....
gig is English for a short time
from Wikepedia "A slang term for a casual short job, usually a one-off concert or recording session."
frankly, this explanation made sense and I never questioned it..

Who really f***ing cares where the name came from, as long as you are getting laid.
It is a Thai Slang word, because most thai girls will be quite shocked that you know the world GIK, like it is some sort of secret thai thing. They always ask...who teach you this.

Sorry to interupt the brain-storming, but who really gives a f*** if it's a Thai,ARAB,EURO,AMerican or Aussie word,,,,,,,,??????????????????
May I entertain the idea that this forum would be more apt to use it's common wants and joint experience in the dispersment of knowledge regarding the where abouts of said giks or potential giks.
It's very hard for an Aussie to talk like that but I am unsure if you would understand,, " who gives a f*** you meat heads, stop bashing heads, its the sheilahs we want!!!!
