I'm sure you'll get plenty of scenery shots in Bangkok and Pattaya, some realy great places to visit there.. If you can drag yourself away from the BG's. 
I donít know what the waters are like in Pattaya, some say it is pollutedÖ but then again I am only going to swim a few times (I live on the Gold Coast so beaches are not a new thing for me)
I wouldn't go swimming on Pattaya Beach, but Jomtiem Beach is just over the hill and Ko Lan is just off the coast - about 30 Min speeedboat ride. Fancy meeting a fellow qld traveler... I'm from Brissy. 
Dagul: Thanks for the info, Iíll look into the Eden while I am in Bangkok (I think it is in Bangkok).
Sure is, Sukhumvit Soi 7/1.
Make sure you get a hotel somewhere on Sukhumvit Rd. It'll make your life so much easier. and you'll be a short walk away from everything you need.
