Quote: from Alifco on 2:08 pm on June 25, 2005 The thing is, they want it closed and they want it hidden in the back alleys. They do not want it in full view of Bangkoks major tourist street and 5 star hotel location anymore.
I have only been here for 3 years altogether including short visits so I am asking this to those who have been here longer. Before NANA plaza was full of gogo's was this area the centre of tourism or did it become the centre because of NANA plaza? It would seem to me that if the new gogo main zone got moved to a venue behind the main streets a huge group of 5* hotels full of tourists would just open next to the new area and that zone would become a jumping place in the new centrel area full of tourists. Who's buying the beers

I just wonder what's gonna happen to Nana burger. But on the other hand if NEP does get the axe, there IS Suk One Plaza just down the road. Plus I imagine that the nerby bars like Morning Night and Big Dog will still be there...just maybe a tad bit busier.

Don't know who owns the land where NEP is sitting. Don't know who holds the lease. Can tell you who owns the land that Pat Pong is sitting on. It is the same people who own the land where World trade Center (Central World Tower) (which has neither Central nor Tower) is sitting. They own the land across the street where the new Big C is sitting as well as the old Big C now know as eSquare Mall. ( a hi-fi place). That entity is called "Crown Propery Bureau". The real estate business owned by HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej. I would wager Central Robinson hold the master lease on the properties in Rajadamri. SRT to take back Central Plaza: http://www.2bangkok.com/2bangkok/MassTransit/central.shtml#3 NASA & Hopewell Towers to be removed From 2bangkok: SRT paying 140 million baht compensation for NASA Spacedrome - translated and summarized by Wisarut Bholsithi from Prachachat Thurakij, June 19-21, 2005 SRT is asking the SRT Board to pay 141 million baht for compensation according to the assessment from CB Richard Ellis (Thailand) from June 21, 2005. The negotiation with Excaliber that asked for 200 million baht compensation (158 million from the assessment by the consultant hired by Excaliber plus extra compensation) for removing Nasa Spacedrome as well as a new lease on SRT land outside the construction area that will be done in the next 2 weeks. Furthermore, SRT is asking another 100 million baht to pay STECON for removing NASA Spacedrome as well as the abandoned Hopewell pillars. Most of the SRT land for the Airport Link has been transferred to STECON. Only the troublesome NASA Spacedrome and Hopewell pillars are the serious issues to be tackled.

I am planning a trip in Sep-Oct. Need to know the real scoop on NEP. Will it be normal ops or is it really shutting down? I will be making my hotel selection based on whether or not Nana is open. And yes, I did read the thread!

I am pretty sure that any info that comes down regarding the fate of NEP will be passed along as soon as it is available. Being that I'm trying to swing a return trip in Nov (fingers are crossed), I'm definitely keeping aBREAST of the situation. Hell...worse comes to worse there are still places to party and get your groove on on BKK and of course, PTY.

Quote: from dotcom on 1:16 pm on June 24, 2005 Cuz NEP ain't the Nana Hotel. Ergo the Nana parking lot MIGHT still be happening. There is a farily wide road seperating the 2.
Nana parking lot after hours is being fed by.... you guessed it, NEP. Hence, if NEP folds, Nana Parking Lot (NPL) will be a pretty empty space - then again, there's always Angel's Disco.

Interesting. When did the Patpong family sell the property? The last time I saw Udom before his death, he was very much the owner.

I was under the impression the people owning NEP were the ones that own Amari hotels and Sheraton. Didn't know they own Landmark as well.
