Just got a funny idea. Buy a fishing rod and attach some bills (not bhat, mind you-that whole respect thing), like maybe a $5 or $10 to the pole and go fishing off a balcony for poontang.
See how well the snapper are biting. Me thinks a soi side hotel room on soi 6 PTY would be a ideal location.

My experience with barbershops...8 years ago I used to get my haircut at a Vietnamese place here in Houston for $2.99. I would tip $5 and get very good haircuts. The same girl still cuts my hair. Now she works at the most popular asian place in town. I pay $5 for the haircut (I get a discount), $5 tip for her and 1$ tip for lady who washes my hair. I get a very good hair cut, my hair washed before and after (no hairs on my collar) and I get a head massage. My experience is that it pays to go where you can afford to be a little bit generous.

Different strokes for different folks.
I look forward to a haircut everytime I arrive to BKK - I go to the first shop walking down Soi 19 right after the parking entrance for Robinsons. I walk in with a big smile and all the girls lite up. I get a hair cut, manicure and pedicure for roughly 600 Baht - I tip any one who workered on me 150 baht each - price never goes up -they even get me a Singha from the convienience store next door. I am always extra nice to them - being nice does not require you to reach in your pocket -a smile -how are you -you look very nice today - thank you, you did an excellent job etc.... goes a long way.
Don't lose sight of what LOS is known for - P4P is great but I enjoy the laughing and smiling that is so easily attainable - its all in youir attitude.
