Um yes, these replies seem a bit more realistic. Thank you. It's truly sad that there are raids on go-gos. I could care f*** all about "dance clubs" and "club drugs" but piss tests have an incredibly high rate of false positives, especially given the fact that it's all being done, I assume, on the premises and not at some lab. And there's always the chance that they could mix up names. Sounds like a shakedown really. Not only will I not be ingesting anything illegal, I guess I'll skip poppy-seed bagels- for a month prior!
But really, it's sad to see this kind of trashing of civil liberties in the name of "the war on drugs". While this sort of random drug testing doesn't happen in the U.S. I do lay full blame of the "piss-test" industry and all of it's sadly absurd consequences on that country which should really offer the whole world a brighter light in regard to personal freedoms.

To the best of my knowledge (which is not that extensive) you cannot be prosecuted simply on the basis of a 'piss test'. If you test positive in a piss test you are likely to be taken down to a police station where a blood sample is taken from you and subjected to a rather more rigorous test. If that turns out to be positive then you are in more trouble.
It is 'very common' for someone found positive in a piss test not to fail a 'blood test' especially if baht has exchanged hands.

In theory Abrak. Didn't happen in Pattaya. By the time they made their court appearance 3 days later a blood test is a waste of time.

Mind you those guys were guilty so I guess they would hardly be screaming to be blood tested would they? I assume that if you were not you could get a lawyer and ask to be. Just that I don't think it is done as a matter of course.

Piss tests are by far one of the poorest ways around the problem. A recent partysan featured an interview with a guy from Qbar (I think he was either the part-owner or the manager, maybe both). He said that the latest piss test resulted in no positives and had no effect other than ending the night early. In the last few months before I left England the police had started implementing a scheme where they swab your hand before entering a club. From the swab they can work out whether or not you've handled drugs in the last 48 hours and act accordingly. It seems a far better alternative. I think the piss test are as much about being seen as pro-active as anything else.

i think its easier to pay off at the club if you tested positive, at the station you have to bribe every copper there so your f***ed.
like the poster above states how on earth the audacity is reached to check what someone has in their system

Not like it works, drugs are freely available in the land of the smiles just like everywhere else when you know the right people or the wrong people depending how you look at it.People just do it at home behind closed doors.
At least they are a touch more civilised about it than singapore.
