Probably going to pick a hotel to stay in the Sukhumvit area for my 3 night 2 day stay in BK before heading down south to the islands.

Leaning towards getting something between soi 15 and Nana Plaza as there are a number of clubs and bars I would like to visit in that area.

I was hoping someone could fill me in on the travel times to a few places I want to visit outside of this area during my short stay. Maybe someone could recommend the best way to travel to these places too -taxi/SkyTrain/Bus????

Never been to Bangkok so forgive me for my ignorance

Here is where I would like to go.....

MBK - shopping

Patpong - just want to check it out

Khaosan Road - need to meet up with someone

Club ASTRA - 29/53-64 Soi.Soonvijai, Rama 9 Rd., Bang-Kapi, Huaykwang, Bkk - going to see a show first night in town.

Bangkok Dental Hospital - Have an appointment on a Saturday morning. How is traffic at that time?? Address: 88/88 Sukhumvit 49, Sukhumvit Road

Thanks in advance for all your help

MBK - BTS 15 minutes (BTS)

Patpong - 25 minutes (BTS)

Khaosan - you've already done a whole thread about that.

ASTRA - no traffic from soi 15 - 15 minutes. (taxi)

Dental Hospital - Saturday morning...passing Emporium - can have some traffic - 20 minutes, without traffic less than 10.

Grab a BTS map at the station or at the airport. Very detailed map. Always on the BTS - faster and cheaper... if you are talking about 1-2 BTS stop - you can also walk. I am sure along Suk - you will walk past many interesting places.

I agree with ColdLobster. I regularly walk from Soi 15 to Siam (or now Siam Paragon) and MBK. There are always entertaining sights to see. Of course, if you are bothered by the heat you can always stop for a cold one at one of the beer bars.

If one is going shopping at MBK, I would recommend the BTS becasue once you get inside the MBK building you will probably walk several kilometers going from store to store.

These days even with all the exercise I do I would not even think of walking that.
However earlier in my trips I tried it once and never got out of sukhumvit as I stopped and had a few met some friends and went the other way.
Easily led in those days.
Now I have to be a little more careful.
