IMO, Singha isn't the best tasting beer, but I miss it so!!! There's nothing like having one before, during, and after a massage... Those days have long gone and my next trip is not for months, but I want to remember my experiences by having a nice cold Singha beer. Does anyone know where to get it in the USA? Thanks...

Thai restaurants. Everyone knows this. For some silly reason, in the USA when people go to a restaurant from a certain country, they think that the food becomes more authentic if they order beer from that country. Go to a Japanese restaurant, order Japanese beer. Thai restaurant, Thai beer. Argentinian restaurant, Argentinian beer. 5 hours later, the same guys go to their local Friday's and they order Coors, Rolling Rock or Michelob beer

too true about the beer thing Smegma. in the UK Heineken is a big selling beer, but as i'm not normally a lager drinker i don't bother about it. but in Thailand i see most of the girls drinking Heineken and not Singha or other Thai beers. is there a reason for this?. had a friend who would always say to me "1 Heineken for me" and i named her Miss Heineken. but she had that habit of putting ice in her beer, why. again,is there a reason for this,i found a lot of the Thais done this. in the UK we have a few Thai restaurants where i live but i rarely visit,so expensive. and Singha?,around 350 Baht for a bottle. i did ask one of the restaurants who their wholesalers were and if i could order some. sure he said, but minimum order was 24 crates of the stuff.... i may like the stuff but 24 crates is a bit much for me. sorry Mr Pink for not being of any help concerning your question, but just telling it the was it here in the UK. but why not find a restaurant that sells it and then ask where they get it from.

Beer with ice in Thailand. Why? I guess they like it. Argentinians drink Champagne with ice. And they drink it the same as we drink beer, everywhere and often -well, their locally made Champagnes at least (French ones being too expensive).

Nokna, My friend, it is very common in the Phils. that beer is drunken with ice. In addition to this it is very popular especially among girls to drink beer with straws. How I miss the sight of these huge, so called icecubes that do not correctly fit into glasses in the first place. Or girls drinking Red Horse with straws. Memories...

Chrisboy, they may not be idiots. They may actually know what they are doing. You have probably heard that red wines should be served at room temperature, and you are right. However, the term "room temperature" used to refer to rooms in Europe way back when there was no central heating and average in house temperatures were around 16c -except during a few summer months. The tannin level in a wine dictates the temperature at which it should be served. The more tannic a wine, the warmer you should drink it. Reds that are low in tannin can be chilled like a full-bodied white. If a red is served too warm, it will become soupy and all you will be able to taste and smell will be the alcohol. The slightly colder temperature slows the evaporation of alcohol, thus improving the aroma and flavor, and making the wine smoother. Unless you have a real and serious "eurocave" type cabinet for controlled temperature and humidity storage, full bodied red wines should be chilled about 30-45 minutes in the refrigerator before serving, to about 15c to 18c. In general with reds, wine that is served too cold will have a decreased bouquet and wine that is too warm will taste dull and harsh. But in any case as with all wine, serve cooler rather than warmer. For light to medium body reds like Beaujolais, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Rioja, Burgundy go for temperatures between 14c to 16c. For full bodied Bordeaux, Shiraz stay at serving temperatures between 17c and 19c. Better to chill it in an ice bucket than serve it at the common tropical room temperature of 30c.
