Well fellow brothers,
I have learned a lot from you guys in the last couple of weeks researching about BKK. You guys are very resourceful and i really appreciate all your posts and comments throughout this board. I guess no matter how much you read about BKK, I still have to go there and see it for myself.
Therefore, I am planning my first ever trip to Asia. Ironic thing is that I am asian, but I've never been back there. I'm in california right now. I needed a change from everyday life and decided to head to Thailand. I decided to only go for 9 days since I just wanted to get a taste of life over there. Thus, I didn't want to fall hard and get addicted like most of you guys seem to be about Thailand! Hahaha! But I pretty sure I will anyways!! 
I don't really have a question since I know most of you guys will just tell me to use the search function. I just hope to have a memorable experience next month in Bkk. I will be there on the 20th of September. If any of you guys are around, I would love to sit down and have a cold one.
Actually I do have a question. Are most thai girls more interested in farangs over asian guys? Or is it really all about the money? It just seems like when i'm chatting online with thai girls. They are quite interested in the fact that I'm from the US. However, when i tell them i'm asian, it seems like a turnoff to them. I don't know if this is the case with most thai girls over there. I was just curious. Any comments would be appreciated.
Well, I just want to say thanks again. It has been fun reading up and learning things from you guys.

Welcome to the forum and your first post. Don't worry about asking questions. If a member gives you grief about it just ignore them.
To answer your questions about tg's or bg's interested in farlangs or asians and money. I think ingeneral, it all depends on the female. Some will be "gold diggers" and other won't be.
As for the fact that they are turned off because you are asian, I'm surprised. They might think you are from Asian and not living in the U.S ... possibly??
I would like to caution you about sponsorship and getting sucking into taking care of a tg when you are back in the U.S.
And let's also be real here. Money is money no matter which culture. So, 99% of the tg's have a price and it comes down to if you are willing to pay that price.
Infact, I've never had a problem being asian in Thailand. I've never been charged the farlang extra charge at some establishments, and had no problems with any female not going out with me because I'm asian. Infact it's the opposite. I got plenty of females to go out with because I am asian.

Some girls will be interested in a Farang for a ticket out,
I am not refering to money, but the idea that a Falang can get her out of Thailand and to a Western country.
I've met a lot of women (not in Thailand) that would do anything for me just to get a Visa or Green Card to the good old USA. I am not sure if the same applies to LOS.
9 days is plenty to get addicted, took me 1.5 hour soapie and I was hooked.

Welcome to the forum! I myself am not an old bird here like most of the bros here but I've had my share of experiences.
I'm 28 and live in Singapore, and like you I'm Asian. I discovered Thailand about 2 years ago(don't know why considering LOS is right in my back yard-2 hours away). Well anyway, been there about 4 times in the last 2 years and as you probably would have guessed..simply can't get enough of it.
I read ABC's reply and agree with him to a certain extent but my experience is a little different.
First of all the main concern with TG's is cash-they can't seem to get enough of it...so in this respect if you've got it, you won't be discriminated.
As for being Asian. there is a slight difference in the way I was treated in my visits to LOS. TG's do love the idea that a farang will take them back to the US and sometimes I felt that this contributed to some of them showing more interest in our farang bros...but this is just my experience.
Sad to say that a few establishments have also given me the impression that I wasn't that welcome...and I'm well educated & not a shabbily dressed person just in case you wondering..He!He! What I do in this cases is that I simply don't go back to theseplaces and frequent those that I'm comfortable with and in this respect there are many to choose from.
This 'discrimination' is just common Asian culture where sometimes farang's are viewed a little more highly(even here in Singapore)...buts luckily its not that rampant.
So far I've enjoyed all my trips to LOS so if you do feel any 'discrimination' just brush it aside and remember...its their loss not yours.

I appreciate everyone's comments so far. I feel honored. Any of you guys in a fraternity back in college? You guys sure know how to make a newbie feel welcomed.
I wish I could take a longer trip, however, I do not have many vacation days left. I will try and make the most of it. That's for sure!
Let me ask a question to all the brothers from the US. How do your friends and family react to you when you tell them you are going to Thailand?? Do they assume you are going over there for sex? Or do you play it off like you're over there for some sort of business? The reason Im' asking is that it appears that when I tell some of my friends i'm heading to Thailand, they think I'm just going over there to get laid. Is there a general negative impression on Asian countries especially Thailand? I feel like I should hide the fact that I'm going over there to some of my friends. Maybe it's just the friends I have. I was wondering if anyone else get this kinda reaction. It doesn't really bother me because I know some friends who go there all the time. They are always telling stories about their sexcapades.
My main reasons for going to Thailand, I think, is just to get away from life here for awhile and actually see what else is out there in this world. Maybe the getting laid part is just a convenience. But I do hope to see and hear all the beautiful sights and sounds from an Asian country. Then maybe I'll be comfortable enough to come back to my home country one of these days.
I think for me this is the first step to going back to my roots. I've been too americanized living in the US all my life.
Anyhow, speaking of money, how much cash do you guys recommend me carrying for a 9 day trip? I'm thinking about bringing 2K in cash and another 3K in traveler's check. Will that be enough? I haven't really started budgeting my trip yet. I just want to be on the safe side. Once again, any comments would be much appreciated.

I dont' know..I thought it was kinda weird. They know I am an asian guy living in the US. Maybe they think we dont' have as much money as farangs living in the US??? I dont' really know!

I'm pretty much just like you except Im' only 26. But I guess you're right. I should just go to places where I am comfortable at. There are so many places in bkk to go anyways right? There is no point in me going to some places where I'm not as welcomed.
Well, I'm counting down the days. One whole month to go!!
