After taking a group of guys to PYX (Pattaya), as this was their first time to LOS, 1 of the group brought a BG back to BKK with him.
That night while showing them around the GG bars, we ended back at the Soi 7 Beergarden, I found the same girl I took with me on the first night, after a few drinks, the 4 of us ended back at my hotel room for a few more drinks.
After a while my mate and I were watching these 2 girls just chatting away in Thai, neither of us could understand a word they were saying, it was like watching a tennis match as these 2 complete strangers were haveing what seemed a D & M.
As they continued I pretended to translate them for my mate and told him that my girl thinks that I'm great in bed and that she wants to have my babies and that his girl said that he was a flake in bed and that she only wants his money, then my girl actually says in English "What did you say," "Nothing Dear".
Is this a Cultural thing that complete strangers in LOS can converse no problems at all, It's not the only time I have noticed it either.
Where I'm from strangers might say G'Day or small talk like the weather, or for guys sports, cars and women, but it's only small talk (Except for a business transaction).
It seems when the TG converse the conversation seems to go longer and has more continuity to their conversation, It my just be the language that makes it seem this way.
Can anyone enlighten me?

I take issue with one of your statements. Since when is men talking about sports, cars and women considered "small talk"? These are the three cornerstones of male bonding and have been so since the early days, or at least since Cain and Abel were still friends and weren't into this slaying business. I know you would expect to have a fourth cornerstone but God did not see fit to give us one so we have to rely on only the three to get us by.
Now, addressing your question about understanding what women are talking about and thinking?
I will leave you with this......There are two ways to handle women. Neither of them work.

They aren't complete strangers. They work in the same branch of business, so they have much in common.
Ever run into someone that has the same hobby than you, or works in the same business? Do you restrict yourself to small-talk?

i found that the Girls talk to anyone and everyone.
if i've been in a taxi with a Girl she has talked non-stop with the driver.
took a girl to BKK from HKT and she chatted to strangers on the Skytrain,river taxis,Hotel bar etc.
and as Hzink says they will chat away with Girls from other Bars.
if I took Girls from one Bar to another I would often be left out of any conversation.
the Girls would chat away even though they were strangers.

also a question of upbringing. the more 'refined' central thai (greater bangkok area) girls usually won't be talking that much as their 'ban nok' countryside raised sisters!

read up on thai culture,
females, american at least, are chatty. Thai women at least on a superficial level are much more so. So when 2 thai girls that are of similiar status (like 2 BG) they will likely become very chatty. It is considered being polite.
