Well I've finally decided to do it, planning my first trip to Thailand now and have three questions I can't seem to find the answers to in the search engine. Hope you all can give me a little advice. First, trip dates. I was thinking of scheduling for the second or third week in Janruary. Good time for a first visit ? Decent weather any important holidays that could interfere in my sampling the varied wares of this exotic place ? Second, desperate to see a truly great Muay Thai match (or several), any recommendations on a place to go in Pattaya or BKK ? Third (the important one), to avoid that kid-in-a-candystore indecision (the one where you see way to many options and can't make any decisions and waste time) which would be a better starting place for a complete newbie to Thailand, Bangkok or Pattaya ? I've read so many differing points of view for both places and intend to try both but which would be a better starting place ? Thanks for any help (and if I've asked a common question I'd love to read the back threads if someone could point me towards them)

January...perfect Muay Thai. Plenty of info on the forum....search a bit harder. Lumpini and Ratchadamnoen. Not guarantees of greatness at any time. For me Bangkok, for someone else Pattaya. it's gotta be your call, we don't know what you like. You want a beach go to Pattaya. Personally I don't go there but I'm only one.

1. Yes, good time to go weather-wise. Not sure about holidays; there weren't any this year other than New Year's. 2. A very recent boxing thread is found here. 3. I usually arrive late at night after 18 hours of travel from the US, so I tend to stay in BKK for the first few days before I head anywhere else. IMO I think one's first impressions of LOS should be BKK or a nice island.

1. Cool Season: The northeast monsoon from central Asia usually blows from November to February, bringing relatively cool, dry conditions to Thailand. This is the best time to visit Thailand. 2.Lumpini Park Bangkok 3.If I had to start it all again I would choose Pattaya as it is smaller and a lot easier to find your way around and the prices are cheaper for p4p and therfore when you do go to Bangkok you won't start your prices too high because you know what you paid in Pattaya. I lot of guys are going to have varied points of view on this question, everyone has different tastes. Beefa

Forever..."Third (the important one), to avoid that kid-in-a-candystore indecision (the one where you see way to many options and can't make any decisions and waste time) " Not sure how long your total stay will be, but the K. I. A. C. S. syndrome is not really a negative, and frankly that's the joy of LOS. If it is not a business trip your going on, just relax and let 'wim' be part of the experience. Cause all you have to do is meet an extra hot babe and next thing, all your plans go out the window. Plan but don't regiment, would be my suggestion.

January - perfect itme for the best weather Boxing - I think best in BKK - but personal choice. PTTY v. BKK - beach vs city. Agree with others, if it is vacation let your decision happen as things develop. In either case you won't be disappointed. If you miss one, another reason to visit again asap!

Ahh thanks all these are the things I was trying to learn. Anyway I was planning on spending 12 days there (looks to be 8 days in Pattaya and 4 in BKK for a little more sight seeing) actually doing the Tourist thing with a fair share of P4P on the side. Does that sound like a reasonable duration there and about $1200-$1500 U.S. a workable budget for that amount of time ? The posts I've read stated along the lines of a 100-125 a day but that prices were going up. Can't wait for the trip, four months and counting.
