Not really sure if this topic belongs here but could not decide on other threads
Went and fell in love with the bose lifestyle systems
Will be in Thailand in a month or so and am interested to know the price comparisons from HK (here the bastards add 50% markup on US prices)
Can anyone advise in BKK
where to buy one

Hi Badger,
There are a few people selling "bose" in MBK.
Or so thats what they say. All of them have a little sign in their premises which says don`t buy from anyone else because they are selling copies.
At the time I was just looking at the speakers and they were saying that they have the same components in them as the Bose. Same drivers etc.
I was talking to one guy though in MBK who was really into his music, he had a load of guitars, amp`s etc in his shop and he seemed genuine, showing me the difference between real ones and the fakes.
They seemed cheap to me, but then again I priced up in the u.k. which is about 30% more expensive than the u.s. anyway

Just remember that many MBK shops are known to deal in spurious goods .
I would recommend that you try the Audio / Video shop on the 2nd. Floor of Amarin Plaza ( right next to the Hyatt Erawan Hotel ).
It is a high end shop with all the best Audio & Video equipment . Even if they do not stock BOSE they would be able to guide you to the most reliable dealers .

Happen to know a lot about BOSE .
Buying BOSE , or any other Audio stuff in LOS is expensive as there are considerable duties latched on.
My advice is to buy from Singapore, or Hongkong. The extra duty that you pay, will (probably) exceed the fare from LOS to HK, or S'pore.
You'll probably be able to audition BOSE on the third floor of the SOGO dept. store building, which is very close to the World Trade Center.
The third floor of the SOGO building is full of audio stuff, if you can't find BOSE, just ask any one of the HiFi stalls & they'll direct you to the nearest BOSE outlet
I happen to be a MAGNEPAN fan, Have you auditioned these?

Agree absolutely. Cone speakers , like Bose, or any other - no matter how expensive- sound shitty to my ears.
Errr, hope BK doesn't ban us for straying off the main theme(s).
