I noticed that they are now openly selling DVDs at Pantip, both the 1st and 2nd floors. You just sit out in front of the booths and thumb through the folders. They still have to go and fetch them.

I was at Pantip recently and I noticed that they are also selling computers and shit like that too. But they don't have to go and fetch them. Except in the shops where they have to go and fetch them.
Oh, and there are some ATM machines there too.
Oh oh.. and some food places in case you're hungry.
Pantip, for those of you who don't know it, is a big shopping mall type place. It is in Bangkok. And Bangkok is in Thailand.

I bought 30 plus DVD's in Pantip Plaza just before flying home for xmas. Half were absolute shit and I had to take them back. They replaced them begrudgingly and assured me the replacements were '100%'. Naturally they were just as crappy as the original lot but it was too late to take them back.
I returned to Pantip after 2 weeks abroad and took them back but they refused to replace them and said I had not bought them at their shop.
Personally I've used Pantip on a few occasions over the years and the quality of their DVDs has always been bad. I'll never go back.
Silom has been the most consistent and trouble free in my experience.

Not so....
In the last ten years, crackdowns on pirated dvds in Panthip have never lasted longer than a week.

I'm very aware of the crackdowns fftmuch.
It's my firm that works with Microsoft and the various film companies to organise the raids with the police. Frankly, it's a nice little earner because we (the police, my law firm and our clients) all know that the infringers will be back again a few days after the raids, and so the cycle (and the fees for us) continue again.
