Life2000, what is that? i have no clue about music software. but you seem to know a bit more than i do.
i would like to find some kind of "mixing" software, so that i can overlap the end of a song with the beginning of the next one (MP3 format) before burning a cd? I am sure that it exist. but anything that is good for an "amateur" like me? any names i can look for would help. i want something simple. no need to be too fancy.

Well, Reason 2.0 and Logic could do that for sure. However they are mainly used for multi tracking to create a new song just has if you are in a recording studio. They are 24 to 96 track digital recorders, which is a bit over kill for what you need. I would just do a search on kazza for a audio file editor you should find one for free out there somewhere.

Smegma, why not try free downloads such as http://www.audio2x.com , I haven't had time to check it out myself but a friend of mine thought it was quite good. You can overlap MP3s to make one continuous whole mix. I think you can also find plenty of this type of stuff at Pantip Plaza without paying too much. I bought Cubase last time I ws there, but Cubase is a bit too complicated for mixing mp3s, its more for making and remixing tracks yourself. Also, other ones like Acid Pro do a similar thing but are a bit easier for the novice user. I also got one CD with loads of different MP3 programs on it. They only cost 150 - 200 per disk so no great loss if its not exactly what you want.

i just read in bangkok post yesterday that 'mall owners' have 40 days to remove all pirated software from their malls.... i dont know if this is just rhetoric, or what....
i also read that ISP have to filter porn from being able to be accessed or they will get their licenses pulled.... if this is so.... i will have to move =-/

I went to Pantip Plaza a few times last April, on one visit someone must have tipped off the stall/shop owners that an inspector was coming because they were all frantically removing the pirated stuff and replacing it with a few legal products, or closing the shops completely. I asked one shop keeper to look at the software he had the day before (ie the prirated stuff) and he told me I must be mistaken as they don't sell it. Of course, when I went back the next day and it was all on display again. I can't imagine its going to disappear for good, people are making too much money out of it.

You should try Acid pro 2,3 or4,it is by far the easiest software music program ouy there.
It will do what you want it to do+ many other functions,including world class song production.
I use Acid 2 for my work because it so user freindly.
All of the work i do is copied and is on sale in Pantip,it pisses me off but what can you do.

Yes they do have reason 1+2 in Pantip ,cost 100 baht per C.D.,also logic,cubase,sonar etc.
Youde better get in quick because hopefully they will be putting a serious effort in to stop piracy soon,(yea i know weve heard that one before)!
