Where are you from and how did you manage to land such a cool job there ?
Can you recommend any local artists or musicians that might appeal to a western dance music fan. I generally like deep house, trip hop, breakbeat, funk, soul etc, but not hard techno or trance. I'm always interested to find something new to listen to.

I am from the U.K.
Initially moved to Hong kong from Gloucester, met my Thai wife there and moved to Thailand 5 years ago.
Are you a producer/D.J.?
If so our company is always on the lookout for new talent.
There is only one form of Thai Dance i think that would appeal to western tastes and that is called'Mulam'.
It is sort of like Thai rap,the only problem is the B.P.M.is around 100-120 so for the trendy clubs in B.K. it is not fast enough,personally i love the stuff.
Bangkok is where the money is and the Hip Thais still prefer their Dance music to be sang in English.
Only about 10% of the music i do is sang in Thai.

Unless Jimmy is talking about something else, I think a spelling closer to the way it's pronounced would be "Moh Lam" (or Ram). It's indigenous to Isaarn and I agree it's absolutely brilliant stuff (but sadly it is sort of looked down on as unsophisticated by many Thais due to it's rural origins).
