Last time I took a couple of Vips to Dong Muang, our Apt's representative arranged to load 60 kgs of extra luggages on a different flight and different airlines (twas Cathai Pacific if i recall) and our clients had to pay only 19baht per kg......of course, the luggages would have arrived in a different day but so far you save a lot of money.......

If you have a lot of clothes you could also try using "space bags" - the ones where you can suck all the air out with a vacum cleaner (or roll it out by hand). They end up compressing a large volume of clothes to a much smaller amount. It probably won't save much on the weight though just the volume.

What about buying a cheap, big-ass suitcase and checking it as a bag and bringing it home with you?
There is a post office between Soi 4 and Soi6 on on Sukhumvit.

If you send anything throught post office make sure to had an "invoice" declaring the value of it ,otherwise you might have the same problem i actually have: custom has blocked my box and DEMAND the invoice (of course its items i bought from Chatuchak market and i explained them allready twice that i never had any invoice at all and that it was anyway impossible to get any invoice from such place but...they still DEMAND invoices...
I think i would make up a fake one with my computer and give it to them to get my box..
Does any of the brother can write for me something like "i f_ck you you stupid asshole "in Thai letter so that i print it BIG on the invoice as the company name?

Just make up an invoice which itemizes each item and what you paid for it. They will probably charge you a small duty fee on the items and they need some value to base it on. I would not skip any items, since they might open the package for inspection.

 guess what they did?
1) they blocked my box for over a month
2)i had to pay 26 euro to get it back when the real value was 50 euro
3) they STOLEN a good third of the content
4)they deliberatelly destroyed some of what was left
5)best of all,there was some coral in the box(supposed to be illegal to import),they simply left it inside the box and i got it safely....
 i cant believe it...
