Any place well known for good discount?

I dont know about comparative prices in asia, but on my last trip to LOS, was cajoled into buying a mobile for my TG, which I was pleasantly surprised to find was only half the UK sim free price of the same model.
So I was quite happy with the outcome, but I have seen mobiles cheaper in Dubai, so would assume that other parts of asia could be cheaper too.

If you are looking for mobile phones in BKK, you may want to visit the MBK shopping center. The place has many mobile dealers.
The Robinson store on Suhkumvit also sells mobiles. I picked up a used one for under 3K baht, which is a lot cheaper than I can get in Canada.

I'll indulge you...
First, new mobile phones are NOT cheaper in BKK, because they are not produced in Thailand, and must be transported there from a supplier in Hong Kong, or another country.
Used phones are another story. Thailand is VERY status-conscious, and phones go out of style VERY quickly. If you merely want a phone that WORKS, they are VERY cheap, and plentiful. If you want the very smallest and latest, you will pay the going rate.
MBK is HUGE, and most of the mobile vendors are on one floor. Even if someone KNEW the name of the place they bought their phone, you would probably NEVER find it, unless it was one of the large chain stores.
There.
You know about MBK. You know about phones. Now, you will need to supply some initiative, and go shopping yourself. Then you will know the details about where/how much to pay for phones, and you can help the next guy.

MBK 5th floor or 4th floor...walk around and the price can drop if you walk only ten meters. FAR cheaper than anywhere else I have seen.

In places like singapore, mobiles have to be purchased with a 2 year contract with some telco to enjoy a (slightly) lower price. Without contract theyre ridiculously exp.
In thailand, majority of people dont have the means to pay monthly subscriptions and such, they just buy a SIM card and top-up as necessary. Therefore I'm told that prices of mobiles without contract are cheaper in LOS now.
Perhaps someone can verify this later.

just recently returned from hk. I used to buy nokias there and sell them here.
but this time, I had to find out that mobile phones are becoming same priced, some even cheaper here.
the little panasonic is cheaper here, so are the nokia 8250 and 8310.
jaymart shop between soi 1 and 3, next to pizza hut, might be a place to visit.

Pretty much agree with HS and RTB. Although, the premium mobiles are priced a bit higher here, it's still in line.
BUT... keep your eyes peeled and be a good shopper. I got my sony ericsson P800 6 months ago in MBK for 20k baht when other vendors were selling it still for 31k baht! Why such a low price? Was the mobile fuct? Nope. It was amazingly simple. It didn't have Thai script so "hi-so" or well off Thai folks didn't want to buy it. Nor did "budget" farang tourists or expats... Only for d0rks like me. ^_^
