Of course they are not - eventually, we'll run out of it, and then it won't be a problem at all.
Realistically, though, we won't run out of oil in our lifetimes.
Still, regarding the article you posted - people will keep raising the prices, as long as the consumers will grudgingly pay for gas at the pump. Filling up my car has gone up from $15-$20 to a ridiculous $40. Still, I can well afford it, but that's not the point.
I have set myself a deliberate target, when I will effectuate changes in my life to deal with it. If Gasoline prices rise to $3.50 a gallon, and remain there for six months (or longer), I will get rid (or mothball), my gasoline cars, and purchase an additional diesel vehicle (preferably a German car), get it converted to BioDiesel, and then drive on with nary any further fuel costs.
I'd already have done the conversion on my existing vehicles, but unfortunately BMW of North America insists on keeping all their cars gasoline only - despite the diesel versions outselling gas versions in Europe).

diesel out in CA is about the same price as regular.. so "nary a cost" doesn't seem realistic
also biodiesel is only practical now with huge gov't subsidies.. so someone will pay for this..

Sure... except for the fact that your car goes nearly twice as far on the same amount of diesel, than it goes on gasoline... Do the math.

makes scense really tho.. I mean a country like thailand or a city like bangkok with the amount of tourists coming for SEX and what ever else.. they could charge from the lowest shit holes at 50USD and up.. and foreigners will pay it!!!
becuase what choice do we have???
also the drinks in the bars could be increased to 4dollars or 5 dollars each and we would pay it! becuase what choice do we have.. if thats whats every bar is charging then so be it..

I recently went to Las Vegas and visited a strip club by the name of Treasures. The amount of money the girls make in there (and other strip clubs) is ridiculous.
$20 a lap dance (20 dances low average/ night) plus VIP dances (3 low average/ night) for 100 dollars a pop! {and they shorten the songs} You figure 4 nights a week, 10 months out of the year is somewhere in the ball park of 100,000 a year. They don't even have to take off their bottoms. I think if a BG, FL, or Go-Go dancer from Thailand saw this they would shit a brick.
I saw guys just throwing their money away (including me) because that was the standard. Knowing how good it is in the LOS in comparison I cringe to pay these prices.
