But Mr A is right in that the place is huge. It also seems that a siginificant portion of the stores, as breconion said, is devoted to the sale of gold. Therefore take your TG at your own risk. The 6th floor Foodpark is a great place to rest your feet and drink some cheap piss..
I also have to be careful I do not take myself to MBK as I always buy some gold on most trips to LOS, normally dropping 40K. Just useing it as an investment

Mr. Onion So you buy gold as an investment. I presume you buy the gold from a high street jeweler in LOS then sell it later to another jeweler? How much have you been making from your "invetsment" and how long did you keep it? I've only bought gold a coupla times and when I checked on the SP later it was always less than I paid for it even when I took it to jewelers outside of LOS! Cheerio PS: Or are you not "investing" in the traditional sense of the word

Investing as a way to keep some money for later in life. But I do have a daughter that also likes gold. Brought her to LOS for xmas 2002 and she gave her other half a hard time when he would not buy her a gold bracelet that she liked. 10 days only till again

Make sure you have comfortable walking shoes because the place is huge. It is so large that there are 8 Chesters grills, 5 KFC's, and 7 McDonalds's restaurants in the same building.
Unless there are several other buildings attached the website quoted by Mr Alan is exaggerating. I have been from top to bottom and I have not noticed more than one or two.
I double checked the official MBK website, and they do show 7 McDonald's, but it looks like there is a problem with their website and they seem to be listing some duplicate locations. However, after eliminating the duplicates, there "appear" to be 3 McDonald's in the building (even though 7 are listed, some of them have the same location listed) : MCDONALD'S Location : Zone B, Floor 1 Tel : 026863516-7 MCDONALD'S Location : Zone A, Floor 1 Tel : 026863516-7 026863659 MCDONALD'S Location : Zone A, Floor 7 Tel : 026117188-89 FAX 026117190 http://www.mbk-center.com/en/shoppingguide/shopbysubcat.asp?subcat=0101&p=2

Never had a problem getting to MBK by taxi myself. I personally think the traffic chaos issue is overplayed in Bangkok. The only time I've seen the traffic really bad is when there is a downpour (that tends to snarl up the main roads, true), or at rush hour on a Friday evening, particularly when that Friday is the monthly pay day. Maybe I've been lucky, but I've taken a cab from Suk 11 to MBK at least 20 times (weekdays, weekends) over the last year and the trip has never taken more than 10-15 minutes. But I defer to Mr Alan's greater wisdom, even if it is gained from Google. PS. thanks for the phone numbers of MBK MacDonald stores, Mr Alan. Invaluable. I've made a note of them in my 'Handy Hints for BKK Visit Bumper Book', just in case.

lol that place does have a lot of chester's grills, on my first day there I saw one, walked around took the escalator up and down and saw another one and thought I was at the same place. the numbers u got might be right for the surrouding area? that place is huge though, I'm definitely not surprised u need comfortable shoes, I walked around in that place for a good 2 hours the first day and BTS is definitely the way to go if u are close to sukhumvit, I mean u get off the train take the stairs down take a right on a bridge of maybe 25 yards u r inside, can't beat that... and I love the bts cuz I got some cute schoolgirl's digits one day, but I thought she was in high school so never bothered to call, then after I left bkk I realized college chicks wear the shorter uniforms...@#%!@#@

I still maintain no shopping centre in the world can match the number of 'Good sorts" wandering around on any given day, so for that reason alone, apart from the amount of gold shops, dont take your TG with you mr alan ! - Think there is at least 3 MK Suki's there also, whose food puts mcchucks to shame...

On my last trip I told a cab driver MBK "em bee kay" he said ok and started driving. At the first stoplight he asked another cab driver "em bee kay yuu tii nai?" That driver didn't know either. Next light he asked another driver again, the other driver said "maw baw kaw" and my driver got the message.
