Yes, it is fully open on Saturdays and Sundays until 6pm.

An excellent market. It never surprises me how here in the UK they bang on about Petticoat Lane and Portobello Road markets as being large and the 'best in the world' only to be met by rude people and overpriced rubbish.

Many people who visits the Chatuchak Weekend Market may not know that it was first located at Sanam Luang in 1948 and that it eventually moved to its present location at Chatuchak in 1987

Loung Steeb, YOu naile dit. FInd the beer as quick as possible. When the wife and I go I let her do the shopping while I drink. The onyl problem with that is when she returned to where I was drinking with a Shitzu puppy under her arm. So we get back to the apartment and they say "no pets".
So she can't give up the little puppy and so she calls her parents who drive 8 hours from the village and take the puppy back home.
Still alive after 5 years.

JJ is a must stop for me every trip.....do most of my christmas shopping there for friends and family back home....also a great place to pick up gifts for business associates/clients, as they are very appreciative over something that was like 80 baht 
There was a cool little bar in the labrynth that is JJ market that played deep house music and made "large" cocktails, but I couldnt find it back in feb 
TL I did the same as you, went in got what I wanted and chilled there while mrs atl did her thing and I usually met some cool folks while chilling over a few drinks and people watching
