3 or 4 different girls, at different bars, I met last trip used the phrase "man keow" while talking to other girls about me. Everyone refused to translate it for me, so I figure it was something bad. Can anyone enlighten me?

pinch you..... as opposed to man sai (hit, punch or hurt). Man Keow is not bad at all... kind of playful.

I get this all the time from my TGF. For instance, we will be sitting on the bus, and she will start patting my thigh, gently at first, then faster and kinding of ending with a spank, while saying, "man keow." Or she may grab my earlobe, and squeeze it while saying, "oooo, man keow!" At first I just figured this was her own personal brand of sadism, as she has kind of a manic expression on her face when she does this. But she explained to me that Thai mothers often do this with their babies and kids. For her, it's a physical term of endearment. - Balls

man keow: basically means, "you're so cute I want to bite/pinch/nudgy you". ...usually said to a person of generous proportions. Kind of hard to "man keow" someone pom pom... Nothing to grab.

OK, let's clear this up..... man = something you like 'pleng man' = a song you like 'man mahk' = a lot of fun keow=to chew 'keow yu' = I am busy chewing so literally 'something you like to chew'......

If we talk literal, all languages have words and expressions that don't make sense. Like try translating "fireman" literally to other languages and you will get "man of fire" - that doesn't sound like the guys that go and try to put fires down. Or what about the expression give me a "rain check" etc. etc. Literal translations of expression are often not very helpful. What I am trying to say is that trying to clear things up by giving a literal translation may not help more. I think that you guys had already explained well what it means.
