Not sure if this helps resolve it....but I think DrLove is correct.
According to the wife the term "Henn gae dtua" means selfish. And without further prompting from me she broke it down as
Henn = I see
gae = old
dtua = yourself
Yourself in the same context as:
Take care of yourself. (do lae dtua eng duay na) and Forget myself (Loom Dtua)
Enjoy.

I agree that sorapaong is WRONG

and DrLove is correct

but I do not agree that the "Gae" means old

it's a compound word for excuse, which is similar to the compound word for "edit"/gae kai

go ahead, look up excuse here, and if you can read Thai, you'll see

When in doubt let's check the dictionary.

Note that the two "gae tua"s are not the same, "gae tua" in to excuse has a falling tone (gae^). "gae" in "hen gae' tua" is a low tone, as "gae'" in old. Though I don't think gae' in this case means old.

Edit: The "g" is used for "gor gai" (chicken) instead of "k" as previously used.

as I have said -- what, two three times now? -- in this expression the word "geh'" (which some insist on spelling "kae", which confuses things because it makes people think of the word gae/old or the word kae/"this much" ) is the same word one uses to indicate the opening of a small package, the picking of a scab, or the solving of a riddle.

the "tua" in this expression is the same as the "tua" in the term "tua-yaang": an "example" or "instance" of something. it has nothing to do with the word for body, or the term "tua eng" (my/yourself).

hen geh' tua = see [a false] solution to an instance = make an excuse/"find a solution" for some specific situation -- because you're looking to get out of it.

it's also misleading to translate "geh' tua" as "to excuse" because that suggests forgiving someone for something, for which the correct term would be "appai" = forgive. besides, the term "geh' tua" is a noun, not a verb.

more accurate: geh' tua = an excuse

Before anyone else gets too much satisfaction out of it, let me say that I was wrong to exactly this extent:

geh’ tua is not a noun, it is a verb -- “to make an excuse”.

Seeing my error does however demonstrate that the dictionary entry BK provided was probably not written by a speaker of English, as “to excuse” cannot be used in any context to mean “to make an excuse”, which is what the Thai term means.

Now what more can you ask for to end the year than one more battle between Dr. Love and Sorapong. I wish for many more battles in the coming year.

DrLove
The whole discussion was that dtua in body/myself and dtua in 'hen geh tua' was the same word.

Len Dtua (play around with me)
Hen Geh Tua (See only myself)
Loem Dtua (Forget myself)

It's very difficult to translate the 'geh' part in English. Probably 'my own' comes close to it.

Which makes sense in this context.

=====================================
do you even know how to say "please give me an example" in Thai? I doubt it.
=====================================
Another example how you do underestimate me.

Mee Tua-Yaang Mai, Krap

drl, you are priceless.

look up the term "geh' tua" in the f***ing dictionary. you will see, as anyone else here can, that what I have been saying is correct -- geh' is the word for open or solve, as in open a package, pick a scab or solve a riddle.

yep, I was certain you'd botch that one too.

what you wrote translates as "do you have an example" not "please give me an example". there is a specific word that any thai speaker would use in that sentence, I remain certain you do not know it. here's a hint: the correct translation is not "kor hai tua-yaang noi, krap".

but by all means, it's your face -- keep falling on it.
