Hello all -
Does anybody out there know what a Thai girl would expect to pay to have a letter or e-mail translated for her? I've been told by a TG that I'm starting to correspond with that she pays between 150 - 200 Baht for this type of service, and I'd like to have this confirmed somehow.

my girl has quite good english but cannot read or write it.
she used to get my mails translated and hers to me also.
in her room one night and she showed them to me.
one side of the paper thai,the other english.
at the top of each sheet was the price charged.
it seemed to be 100 for each 1k.
but i suppose different place charge different prices.

Most internet outlets here charge between 80-100 B depending on the length. This is of course, just one way communication. Perhaps in some cases a two way translation is required, one to translate your mail to Thai and then from Thai to English for you.
I do it for free whenever I see the girls in the bar.

Normal charge for a Thai girl, in Bangkok,when she sends you a basic email, is 20bt. If it is a longer, involved mail, it may cost 50bt, would need to run into a page or 2, to cost 100bt. - rates from upcountry are cheaper. Likewise, I often do a translation for girls for free, but beware the scam [ some details on my site] basically some girls ?? strangely all appear movie stars in their pictures, get in contact with many farangs, then ask for a small donation towards emails, usually just ask for $10 or $20 US, of course you think this fair, so in fact send $50 or $100 - and if she gets this from 10 guys a month, its a good earn, better than the basic labourers wage of 100 bt per day !! [ and yes .. I am a cynical bastard !! 555 ]

Thanks for the info. Thaiprivateeye, I hear you, buddy - I know the potential is there for abuse. This one seems pretty genuine, but you really never know. Yeah, I'd be cynical too if I'd seen the things that you probably have!!

Cheers Snowbird, - dosent mean Id prefer to live anywhere else, its just that these days I take any approach, even a "hello Sir, how are you" as the beginings of a scam, - and no offence, and I'm not racist, but any approach whatsoever from some of the darker skinned guys in the Soi 3 vicinity, just gets met with the complete "Blank" - apparently a look Ive perfected !!
