With half an eye on the economic situation, I was wondering what people consider to be the "safest" of the Thai banks in terms of having their savings deposited ?
Are there such things as Deposit Guarantees in LOS if a bank were to collpase ?

UOB isn't a Thai bank but it's available in Thailand & I am figuring it's one of the most secure

UOB is a singaporean bank. Its most recent Moody Financial strength rate is B, Incidentally, The Moody's financial strength for Fannie mae and Wachovia are B and B+ as recently as July, 2008.

The safest Thai bank is the sperm bank provided by TG's. I am a regular depositor and quite happy not to see my deposits growing.

easy now...... this whole thing is like an octopus with it's armd reaching slwoly to all places in the world... no one is immune... believe me, NO ONE.... let's take a worst case situation..... banks face NPL's and runs on the banks... capital ratios g out of whack..... backs are insolvant so the giovt. props them up.... reserves of Thailand is roughly $100 billion. You can do the math... after that $100 billion is burned through, they hav eto issue debt to prop up their banks...... sorry, but this is a vicious cycle.........the only question will be how long the banks can hold up before the PLAGUE reaches them.......U.S. and Europe taking major stepd to stop the bleeding, and they will stop it, but not after near total destruction... can smaller countries survive? We will see......
