dude, From what I understand the issuing bank controls the amount you can withdraw daily. I'm good to go for 1K USD daily. I was told by my banker if I wanted to increase the daily limit to 5 or 10K there would be no problem.

Mister "dude". Roll into any major bank in Thailand with a) Credit Card & b) US Passport. You can cash as much as you have funds in your home bank. Most ATM (I use BKKBank) have a $750 limit per day. Use both. Money Changers & Jewelry Stores will also give you cash - provided you have your passport on you. P.S. For travellers Cheques - Jewelery Stores often give the best rates - only by a few satang.

Thanks guys. You just made my life easier. Besides worrying about carrying a large wad of cash half way around the world, I don't have to cherry pick the bills at the bank since the exchange people are very picky about the condition of the bills. So I shouldn't worry if all I bring is my ATM and CCs (and a few hundred US$ in case of emergency) ?

I always use traveler checks $500USD, no problems. 33 baht service charge only. Always cash at banks or airport. Exchange rate good.
