about the 2 euro coins it is old news. after the vending machines were puffed with 1o bhat coins beginning of 2002 most machines were replaced with an internal scanner so that they could scan the surface of the coins!
one might find some older vending machines in remote areas, but not worth the effort anymore, as chance fixed about a year ago!

Thai banks do not pay interest to farang bank accounts. They passed a law about a year ago. What a rip.
