Better still why not get a great "'house with no steps'' or salvation army card printed up in pattaya, go home, borrow a mates labradour dog, drug it, put on glasses. And go 50 miles from your home and sit all weedend at the mall getting charity? 1000 a day? Even 2 is no where near enough! I think its unrealistic.

1K per day is not easy to do nor is it as much fun as when I have 5 K per day. I plan on moving to LOS in a couple of years and I want to see how cheap I could live in Pattaya and still have a decent time. It can be done. I'm lucky my pension is large enough to support a somewhat "liven large" life style.

I respect that. And I suppose if you did this. Rented a condo..50,000 a year (buy 100,000) ate cheaply for say 50 baht -100 baht a day. Drank 2 long necks every day, 3 on weekends. Went one short time, and 2 long times a week. Had a movie, and one treat like walking street a month out on town it would cost 25,000 to 28,000 a month. Thats about $750 us dollars a month. Your pension would cover that I guess. Infact if you were to really disipline yourself, you could do it on 1000 rent a week 500 food, and 2 l/ts 2,500 and 1000 extras, thats only 20,000 a month. f_ck mate, its scary stuff. You could place $250,000 us in the bank (about 10 million baht) and the interest would be about 4.9 % to 5.5% or about 500,000 to 600,000 a year. Thats about 42,000 to 50,000 a month in baht. Or 10,000 to 12,000 a week plus. Thats 1000 rent, lots a long necks, and better food, and 4 long times, and the odd superbaby. Worth the thought. Ofcourse stick 20 million baht in an account, and well its wink wink forever, til the heart gives up at least. But sure any of us on a disclipined approach can live the life of puss. Just how you do it is in the timing. I think a budget of 1.5 thousand a day, is in permanent terms the bottom of any barrel.

When I do move LOS, I plan on having 1.3 million baht in the bank, no debt and a pension that gives me a little more then 3K per day to live. I'm lucky that both my pensions are indexed for inflation.
I'm thinking Chiang Mai, Nong Khai or Udorn Thaini. Cost of living is cheaper and not nearly the temptations of Pattaya.

Good thinking. I am buying north, for a dry out every 2 months for a fortnight. Live there and chill 25% of the time. And pattaya the rest. I have to admit that initially that will be base. Later slowly retreating north. 1.3 and a pension is enough, though your going to need to stick with that 40 year old a while. Its easy to trade her in for a 7/11 girl in some small town north. (little secret fling on the cheap) You could get by on 10,000 a month north. But say 60,000 a month is reasonable. I am aiming for about 3500 to 4000 a day spending with investments paying it. see what happens. I am leaving my super in tact and home. Just in case.
