As for 20,000 a month for sponsorship. A lot has been written on the forum about sponsorship. I am generally against it for the following reason. When guys pay, they seem to figure they are covering the girls expenses so she will not work and they (the guy) will get exclusivity. Essentially, the thinking seems to be-- you take a hottie off the market. In the vast majority of the cases, the girl will still work and/or have multiple sponsers--- so you will not be getting what you think you are. Also, you will become attached. So when the girl's parents have to go to the hospital, etc. (and it could very well be legitimate), sugar daddy will be the first one she turns to for that extra 20,000 baht -- and you'll pay. Not telling you what to do (lord knows I have contributed more than my share of baht to tg's). Just go into things with your eyes open. As for apartments, serviced apartments are more expensive but there are also some that have limited service, i.e. 2-3 times a week as opposed to everyday and they are not too bad expense- wise by western standards . But yes, non-serviced apartments are much cheaper.

The other thing that I have seen with guys who "keep" a girl is that there cost per sexual encounter goes up very quickly.. originally it was daily sex.. then every other day, etc.. the fee stays the same ?? I have seen this with every guy who has a steady .. One guy I know is paying about B240K per year (just his base payments, doesn't include medicine for mom/dad/buffalo) .. He is in Thailand for about 100 days a year, so figure B2,400 per day for sex .. wrong !!! He is lucky to get it every other day so how about B4,800 for sex .. starting to get pricy isn't it ??
He would break up with her, but he lubs her (sob, sob) and he knows she lubs him (yes, and he will soon buy some swampland that I own in the Everglades) and it would break her/his heart to do this.. basically the guy is chickenshit to break up with her .. oh well, what was that about a fool and money???
also mentioned "buying her out" WHAT ?? don't fall for that scam .. the girl can quit at any time and you don't have to pay a fee to the bar for that ...

ÝYoungExpat, at least do this: Ýset some objective parameters up front, so that you might more easily judge whether or not you start to get taken for a ride. ÝIf you try this after you set up house, it might be difficult to tell. ÝStuff like how soon does her toothbrush and other sundry items start to take residence in your place. ÝWhen is the first time she asks for money to help out a family member. ÝDoes she make a claim that if you don't help her you are somehow not a good person. ÝLook through the history and set up some guidelines. ÝAnd make sure that you can break the lease if you have to. ÝUtilising thaiprivateeye or someone similar to do a little bit of a background check might save you a lot of grief as well.

- its not hard to do a bit of checking yourself, have a buddy drop by and chat her up, use the old line " your very pretty, - surely you must have a farang who wants to take care of you " ... sad to say, 99.9% of the time it will be "Mai mee" No Have - Think I was pretty cynical to start with, - but after years in this Job, it just gets more so, sadly I would rate maybe 1 in 10 girls I check out, as being totally faithfully - whilst the amounts some guys have invested, houses/Cars/Business's - we are talking millions of baht, just staggers me, and certainly dosent buy you any more security - also, must add seems to be the same in all levels, not just BGs, this month had a look at a full time University student, a successful Business woman, and a Beauty salon worker, all getting sponsered, - first two had a Thai boyfriend in the shadows, the last doing a bit of freelancing - The sponsers of the first two immediately cut their losses, re the freelancer, the guy asked me my advice, [ she was waiting for a visa approval ] - I said tell her to go and stay up-country with her parents, call her in the village regularly, if she's not there, no more sponsership - The girl agreed, and for now, is looking after the buffaloe ! One thing I do note, is even when caught out, they always deny, then eventually, make a weak excuse, but will not totally depart your life, they will continue to keep in contact, no matter how slim the chance that sponsership may be resumed !! from what I have heard is that the idea of taking care of ones family is an odd concept for most thai men. They can't spend a lot of time and money at home if it is going to take away from his drinking and whoring himself. I have heard of a number of occaisions where a woman is supprting her family and all of his habits until she gets sick of it. I think this is where a lot of the older BGs come from.
