The main problem that I have when cashing a large amount then keeping it readily available is that I tend to spend it quicker! If I (try to) disipline myself and cash US$100 at a time then I tend to spend less than if I change US$200 at a time which (majically) seems to get spent just a squickly. Change your money little and often...a bit like BGs actually!

I have the same problem.
And that is why I exchange a large amount in one place and then head right back to the hotel to put it in the safe. Other wise, if I'm walkin' around with it, it's gone!! ha ha ha!!
