I have to say, Dirty sounds more coherent and smarter than Krypto nowadays. Krypto, what happend? It seems you fell into the deep end of insanity.

When a moderator, for the good of the forum freezes you. Now back to the thread, I once did get by on that amount big usa. Many years ago. And for that week roughly, had a mixture of torment over the girls I could no longer afford really. And desperation to secure funds over. I ended in 4 short times, and convincing a girl that I would send her money on my return. That was 10 years ago. Amazingly to this day I remember her faith in that pledge. She incidentally got about 5000 sent for that 2 days I spent with her. But I have never forgotten how tough it was. Sitting watching the cable sports, hearing the music from the street drift up. And again choosing a short time over a good meal and beers. It can be done though.

There is a difference in my mind to being on vacation when I go out almost every night versus living here. My budget and liver would soon give up the ghost.
For me a 40 y/o is almost a young women.
When I do arrive for my long stay, I plan on starting fresh with no women waiting for me at the airport. I plan on following my fathers advice (finally) about getting to know a women for a year or two before I make a move.

BigD, my Dad and Mom gave me the same advise. I am also counting the years when I can put my 20 million baht in the bank there and retire... gettin close. My retirement will not be indexed for inflation such as a gov one, so I have to be able to put in a larger initial investment to be able to live comfortably and reliably on the interest.

He sounds wise. Afraid most us here cant atire to that one. I have one in waiting and a reserve or two. Point about north life at least as an option to run to, is the booze and nights suddenly are tamer. Less regular. Have you been up to chang rai. Even big C supermarket has some potential> (beer hall on ground floor) pretty girls plying you by the jug. 4 brand names different girls. ask a local, I think its pretty ok though, not disimilar to farang land. Singapore having 10% is incrediable, and not far away. Taxation ceiling. Accounts in thailand seem safe. Check the sites. But also talk to a couple of the residents in this forum, some would be well versed.

Thanks. I follow the general rule of needing $250,000 invested at to get about $1000/month of income (with minimalk risk) after taxes in the US. Would be nice to be able to live comfortably off that in Thailand. I am looking at Chiang-mai/Chiang-rai or Surin/Buriram areas.
