True, every last word of the post, my company pays for my lodgings which is 5 mins walk away from my office....
Hear this, an overseas allowance of 10,000 B a month...
That's it, not a happy situation, but just grinning and
bearing it.
Err from Singapore, the land of down trodden employees..
Well flying back home to meet up with the boss soon.
No way, I will continue to set up offices in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar if this is the allowance I will get there as well.

10k is more than enough as a local allowance.
Bear in mind if your accommodation is all paid for and it is an allowance, not a salary.
May I make a suggestion for your budget?
10k is 300 Baht per day.
Meals 3 No. per day at 20 Baht each 60 Baht
Laundry by hand in sink 15 Baht
Groceries (soap, toothpaste, water) 50 Baht
Food from wet market 40 Baht
This is only 165 Baht/day and you are living well, smelling good and eating well. Certainly better than most people.
That leaves 135 Baht/day which is the price of two beers in happy hour in a nice bar. Take a girl with you and share and then make like bunnies. Love can be free and awfully entertaining.
Must go now, dining at the Oriental tonight.

Sure why not, sick of working whilst my two thai staff are surfing the web, hiring another two more this couple of week.

Okay, how about I give you the break down of what I spend for 6 days, Sunday to Saturday the last week,
Week Before I was in San Francisco so that does not count
Total Expenditure Personal.
1. Food, Groceries, mineral water and tips to service people.
B 1, 237 ( plus minus a few baht)
B 350 ( laundy), major trousers and business shirts
B 200 (Tips to the porter and to the taxi driver)
On a daily basis, it goes something like this.
Morning Breakfast..
a. Cold Porridge left over from night before
with Tabasco sauce the Jalepeno type, Scoville
200,000+ rating. Along with furikara ( small cut up
seaweed and sesame seed sprinkles) along with
Toufu Fried without oil.
Or Toast with Jam or Garlic spread.
b Lunch, no choice but for Burger King, all seasons place.
around B 139 for fish meal, yesterday was a good day
decide to treat myself to a double whopper with bacon
and cheese B 230 I belive along with a small cone 7 B.
c. Dinner, Cook Porridge, with vegetables or chicken
nuggets.
Repeat as required....
Entertainment, hmm used to take a show at the EGV on weekends but found it to be too expensive, so I just watch the inhouse cable, surf the web or just study.
Not much P4P and not with my allowance anyway
On some months, I would even save a couple of bahts at the end of the day

not really the theme of the thread but
a) age, weight, height... who cares. You da man!
b) forget burger sh*t and go local. most lunches can't cost more than BT 40 - on your budget thats two days worth or buy two and take the other home for dinner.
c) while surfin' the web, you can hook up with potential free "rolls". They may not always be stunners but you can always blow them off by meeting them for a lunch time walk. No money involved and if they ask for it, you don't have to lie - I ain't go none!
With the money you save on lunches, you could have 3 individual hour long sessions at Barons per month.
