Surely the thing here is not to ask what OTHER peopoe need but to simply calculate it related to your onw needs. Its not easy to work out a simple budget and then escalate it re the age concern.

I think it's because your golf game starts getting worse at 75 so you need to buy 3 times as many balls.

This is one of the BEAUTIFUL things about being an Aussie!!!!!
Medicare in Australia ( free ) is available and only 8 hours and about $700 Aus dollars away from LOS.
Botox not needed, WAY to late for that 
Viagra, well I read Cailis ( not sure of spelling) is only about 50BHT per tab.
And that is what makes my 80,000BHT per month (indexed to inflation) look great to me.
The other thing to be worked on is establishing a business in LOS several years before retirement, no need to be a MICROSOFT type deal just and honest business regularly pulling another 40-50 K profit a month. This I am working on now.
AHHH 17 years to go till retirement 
P.S I need to think again on the 8 hours and $700, no need to travel ALL the way back to Sydney,, Perth has excellent hospitals also and is 4hours and $400 away

OK, plan 2, Vietnam, I actually speak more Vietnamese than Thai which is a help, Vietnam is rapidly opening up and will be the next LOS after the inevitable fall of the communist government ( god I hope that is done peacefully)
The business would still be in LOS ( more stable economy) but I could spend a lot of time in Vietnam,,,AHH its been too long since I shagged a saigon rose.
Your point about the motor-bike is very valid, got that one covered, if airline tickets are purchased using my AMX card I have travel insurance, will need to do visa runs anyway so just get tickets with the AMX.

Good point in my opinion, if you do not require immediate surgery, transfusions, constant medical care and you can walk or hobble and in focus, jump on a plane and fly back to Perth or maybe Darwin.
Just a few hours away and back in the hands of Medicare. I also have medical insurance through AMEX, but is valid for accidents only including hospital attention and even having nurses coming to my apartment each day to care for me as long as I am bed-ridden.
It does not cover things like food poisoning, fevers etc only accidents, broken limbs and the like, AUD $20 per month, cheap.

if you don't get knocked down, prison raped, transfused with infected blood, live in the country but not too far from the city, do/don't own your home, marry an only child orphan, expect to live to only 65 with an income of $10,000,000 per year and are celibate...
You can retire and live a very happy life in Toxins new temple visiting resort.

Vietnam indeed a go I think Mel - I did a job that took me to Nah Trang - great place, unfortunately lack of time and local knowledge limited my playtime, and also the Communist/Check up on the Farang thing was a little worry, but Im sure if/once you knew your way around the place, it will be a very good option -
[ an extra few hours to perth for the Liver transplant tho guys !! ]

Na Trang,, great sea-food and great ladies, maybe city number 4 on my list of favourite places, behind Saigon Hue and Da Lat
Maybe a good idea to go to Nam together some time, it's amazing how just a few words in Vietnamese can open up a whole new level of culture and WOMEN to your availability list.
Don't worry about the Police check up,, they are just like Thai police,, few dollars and everything is OK sir!!!.
The only difference is you need to use "short time" hotels that are especially set up for the deed and have made the appropriate donation to the Police New years party,,,LOL.
Nam is really a GREAT place and although I now spend all my holidays in Thailand I will make it back there next year.
P.S I believe it is actually closer to Perth.
