Oh, the taxi ride was actually to ratchada seafood and then I took a different one to poseidon.

What I learned on my 1st trip and by reading this forum that will save me some money for my trip in NOV-DEC.
1 Don't tip the taxi drivers has much. I always tipped the guy a 100 baht cause its only slightly more then 2 dollars us. I did a recall of how much I would have saved by just tipping the guy 20baht and I figure I would save over the 2 week trip around 4000 -5000baht.
2. Don';t tip the LTs STs at all and go with the price agreed to Saveing of about another 4000-5000 baht. Inless the service is outstanding then maybe a 100-200. This one will be a hard one to not do LOL
3 Don;t tip the bars more then maybe 20-30 baht when leaveing the bar. and only if they don't leave any coins over a reasonable tip 20-30 tops Saveings about 2000 -3000baht.
4. Don't buy lady drinks for anyone that I really don't want to out of kindness. I bet I bought 10-15 lady drinks over the 2 weeks for friends of girls I liked .Or girls mamasan tryed to dumb on me that i really didn't like. Saveings 3000-4000 baht or so.
so If i do all these things over my 3 week trip which will not ruin any fun whatsoever. Then I could save about 12000-15000 baht which could possably buy my plane ticket or come pretty close back for future trip to the land of smiles.

In both cases, you have a fixed price on the meter ... my example compared the price of the taxi in NY to the price of the taxi in BKK, relating it to the fact that he said he doesn't mind overpaying for a BG because the same service would cost $500 in the US.
Bargirls don't have meters, not that I've seen anyway. You should have easily been able to tell from the context that I was differentiating bargirls from taxis, not metered taxis in Bkk vs. NYC.

And my original message was comparing taxis in NY to taxis in BKK, so we are in agreement that comparing a fixed price taxi to a variable prices ST or LT is not an accurate comparison. İChompoo, I understand your point. İAnd my hypothetical question was answered by tglover2 in his post when he said how he tipped the driver to ratchada.
