Just want to help clarify some of these posts I'm reading.
J-1 (aka C-1) are 3000+ baht as a surcharge *and* if you are driven in by a Taxi. You may get a discount if you take Skytrain.
C-2 is 1700 baht, are not related to J-1. They do have good rooms, but make sure you ask for a *VIP ROOM*. They will bring you to the 4th floor with good rooms and clean towels. Also if you get experienced girl, they will want a clean room themselves. I've had a blast a C-2 many times. I will say that there are **too many** girls sitting on the "basic massage" side on the right. Unfortunately, these girls just do massage and nothing else, unless negotiated with the girl. Some girls are knockouts, some are a bit old (like 40's). Some of the real *choice* girls are usually outside the fish bowl and not seen in the middle. The girls in the middle do bath, massage and full-service, but no raft. Maybe ask the Mamasan or Papasan to see if there are girls resting somewhere in the back. I know, I've chosen a girl then walk into to pay and I see some real pretty ones not in the bowl.
The raft-massage girls sit on the far left, are also 1700baht. Sometimes you'll have to wait a bit for a girl that will satisfy you.
There is a C-3 owned by the people of C-2, but it is on the other side of the Chao Phyra river.

As far as I can remember there has never been a farang surcharge at Chaophraya 1 (J-One)...in fact it was one of the few soapy MP's that did farang business pre 1997. I am a Caucasian and I have taken friends from all over Asia and the sub continent there without ever any suggestion of a surcharge. I always drive, so I don't know how arriving by taxi or walking will affect the price, but my guess is that all these places are hungry for business and if you offer Baht 1,700 take it or leave it, they'll take it.
