At Darling, you don't really need to tip the Papasan as 2500 baht for one girl (4000baht for 2) is really plenty. But if you want to, 200baht - 500baht is good. For the girls, depending how they do, 500baht. If they are REAL good and strike a cord, 1000baht. Tipping is optional, naturally and I'll be the first to say these are HIGH tips.
I never went to the barber shop....but I'd assume it would be much less than what I quoted above.
I went to Merry Massage and was charged 1500baht for one nice cute girl. Tipped Papasan 300 or 500baht (I can't remember). It was the only time I got ONE girl in BKK (I always get two). I tipped her 500baht and I broke a 1000baht note to get the two 500baht notes. She was quite happy and so was I....'cuz I had 500baht.

IMO, Cupidy should be avoided. They certainly do give a huge kickback to the taxi drivers (which is why many taxi drivers recommend it so highly), and they will charge any newbie as high a rate as they can. I think they quoted me something like 3500 for the fishbowl and in the 4000-4500 range for the sideline girls. I certainly didn't pay that much, but still I paid more than I should have. The girl I took freely admitted to the scam afterword (and that the normal rate was 1900, I believe), so I didn't hold it against her.
If you have the choice try to find someplace with more integrity; there isn't really anything special about the place that warrants giving them your business and putting up with the hassle factor. But if you happen to have paid too much already (there or elsewhere), don't sweat it. I had a fine time, but I wouldn't return.

the only thing is to keep in mind how much you should really pay in there! last time i was there i tipped the papasan thb 100 and mentioned the last time I only paid thb 1,800 and deal done. so off i go to the six floor with my honey of the moment and 2 hours in heaven to follow.
honestly guys thais pay as low as thb 1,500 in there i think that is the bottom line. but even as a farang when you mix some thai words into it you can come as close as possible to this price!
cupidty has a very nice selection of girls in my opinion much better than darlings and also better rooms and allthis at a price below darlings if you are able to negotiate and do not come with taxi (as they will demand cick backs! Just let you drop off at the corner to cupidty and walk the last 200m by feet - this way you safe 100's of bahts!)
On the bad side I have heard about a japanes being charged thb 12,000 for soapy in there plus tipping the girls another thb 3,000 for the session. so very flexible pricing indeed in there. i love it!

It is certainly possible to negotiate them down. However, on principle I don't like to patronize places that so obnoxiously try to rip off the unwary, and I find it tedious to have to negotiate just to get a fair rate.
I don't know if that trick of dropping you off on the corner would work. I actually asked the driver just to take me to the Plaza Entertainment Complex and he still took me directly to the door of Cupidy. I have to imagine that if the driver drops you off on the corner he's going to hang around to see if you go into Cupidy.

yes some drivers might do that, but in that case let you drop off at the mp above cupidty or jsut walk in that direction and take the elevator to go downstairs inthe basement (cupidty) again. this upstairs place does not give credits to taxi drivers. this way you can be sure that there will be no comission involved!

The hard and fast rule about paying for anythingis if you are happy then you did not pay too much. If you get the feeling of being pressured and or the cost is too high, then you simply do not pay.
New people will often feel they have been overcharged, however they may or may not feel bad about it. By comparison for a simialr service almost anywhere else in the world, Thailand is amazingly cheap, so just relax and enjoy yourselves, stop worrying if you paid too much.
If you did you will know better next time.
