Having been to Atami, Mona Lisa, J-1 the Halem and others on the list(Harem?). I can tell you that Atami used to be #1. Great gals, but a little beat up (the building). I was coming back from the other side of Wat Pho back to Suk and the tuk-tuk guy insisted I go there just to look. I swore no sudzys this trip! He charged me the same price either way. Well, there were sideline girls but you couldn't tell the difference. The sideline ones have bigger racks, but I am all about the perfect Thai dtoods (butts). They were all georgeous (the girls). I was dirty and sweaty but the place was so classy I went home to sah-wah. Tuk-tuk dood waited and took me back for the same price. This princess sang "if you're going to San Fran Cisco" on this High Def. TV playing Kareoke while we sat on this nice couch. A very nicely furnished place. She put shivers up me spine just with that, and the spagetti top dress that fell right down in front exposing these two hershey chockolate kiss nipples. Well, they gouged me $500 bht for the room, but this late 20's girl was so sweet and funny with all her questions about the USA I could go on, but it was worth the $3,000 total. I have squandered that on tired old deadbeats with sad stories about "you name it" that I brought back from freelancer bars when I was drunk. So...YES...set your standards the first couple of nights you are there. So what if they charge you more than Thais. The Thai men are the ones that taught the ladies everything they know and they allow us "at it" so live with it. At least one sudzy per visit.

I disagree that it's a "ripoff" place for farangs. Ý J1 is known as a venue that caters to Asian foreigners and Thais. ÝThat means the girls and cheer guests who work their prefer those types of customers. Ý Ý It's not a conspiracy by the evil management. Ý THAT's why they built J2 for foreigners across the street. Ý But yes, you're still welcome to do your business there, no matter what your skin color. Ý That's the beauty of local discrimination. Ý Ý

Hi there,
Some of the above comments have been a bit negative for J.One but - I have been there on each of my last 6 or 7 visits to BKK and have had a great time each visit.
I enjoy being able to have a meal and/or a drink across the foyer while taking my time in selecting my 'TG' for the next 2 hours. Then I make my request and you know the rest. Always good, full and clean service.
I'm farang and on each visit I pay 2K plus tip. Across the road I pay 1.7K but its not as nice (for me). I don't feel ripped off - always there is the extra charge for farangs - I guess the bigger you are the more you pay!
Compare this with bar girls - 500 to 1000 baht bar fine, 1K to 2K for the girl and then another 500 baht for short time hotel. This makes J.One a very good option.
P.S. don't go there by taxi.

Anyways, I must respectfully disagree with ya Pack. ÝI got "worked" there by the cheerguest on my 2nd visit. ÝThe 1st visit to J1 was all fine and dandy, the 2nd, the guy was telling me what the rate was when I paid .5k less the previous time... ÝOn my way out(ya I woosed out and gave in! >_< ), the mofaka heckled me, "song pan baht, song pan baht" which is what I paid the first visit, I paid the house 2.5k... Ý
No it's not a conspiracy, but like sifu packripper once told me, it's the cheerguests perrogative to "juice" ya for some extra mekong money... ÝAgain, great seeing/reading ya here again.

J1 has only been partially renovated on the upper floors. ÝThe new floor has a jacuzzi instead of bathtub, a urinal in the room, and being all new is generally cleaner and fresher. There is also a 3-room suite with dining table for 8 combined with a lounge area, and bedrooms connecting to either side.
On the unrenovated floor, the rooms are dark, mouldy and rundown. ÝThe airconditioning does not work so well.
So, IMHO to make your visit to J1 better for you and your selection, make sure you're on the new floor. ÝJust say Ýroom must have jacuzzi.

And yes you're right, it is the cheerguest's perogative. Scams can and do indeed happen (I was just saying that it isn't a "every foreigner who walks in that door will be overcharged" kind of policy).
