Utopia doesn't sound like a place that tips the taxi drivers taking you there. In general, if the taxi drivers do you recommend an establishment with their brochure, they are not likely to get a cutback. Anyway, you know the prices already from Pinga's repost of Orisis' report, don't pay any higher. Just take a taxi directly to that place.

Utopia serves more local clientele than farangs or tourists so it does not have an open policy of tipping cab drivers. Alternatively, tell the cab driver to go to RCA from Robinson and enruote there, Utpoia will be on your left -hand side...tell the driver to stop opp Utopia, pay what's on the meter and cross over ....

Big thanks to all of you.
I will be in BKK 5 weeks later. I plan to visit Utopia, Mona Lisa and New Cleopatra.
The latter two I have been there once. Both were satisfactory though not outstanding. When I was in N.C. first time, I was kind of cheated by the papasan.
As soon as I walked into the lobby, the papasan first steered me to mezzanine to view the superstars. There were about 8 or 10 then ( i think it was about 6:00pm). He quoted me between 2800 Baht to 3500 Baht. I must say most of them are above average in terms of looks. However I express that it's a bit pricey and asked him if there's any more alternatives. He brought me back downstairs and into a lighted room with a few sofas and a few sideline girls chatting. He told me those sideline were priced at 2500Baht. By that time I thought there's no fishbowl in N.C. Therefore I decided to choose one of the 2800Baht I saw in the mezzanine. Only when we walked to the counter to make the payment then we passed the front glass of the fishbowl.
Of course I had the girl whom I chose walking next to me. I did not stop and scan the content inside the bowl. But if I go again I would definitely take a look at the fishbowl first.
I hope this post will help those who have never been in New Cleo.

This thread has been going so well I think I'll throw in a mini-FR on a great hotel in the area for those guys who want to be close to the Ratchada MP action. Fortune Hotel which anchors one end of the Fortune Town Plaza/mall is quite ideally located IMHO.
Stayed there twice now, always booked double and never the slightest hassle bringing a girl back to the room, if you bring a second they will ask for 700baht and gladly charge it to the room. They might ask you if you'd like them to keep her ID, but I have always declined and they let it go with a wink and a 'just looking out for you sir' attitude. Very good service always, but food is just average with a sub-standard breakfast buffet fare (incl.) Room service is pretty appetizing fare however. ÝChecked out 3 days after the New Year and left a nice bottle of champagne in the fridge. Called about week later and it was there waiting when I stopped by. And, as an aside get this, with this champagne bottle in hand I waltzed into Copa Cabana (for a repeat of the night before's dish) and they actually not only allowed us to drink the bottle in the room but provided the bucket, ice and glasses all at no charge. Sweet!
Shop around and you can find a rate of @14-1500(dbl) baht for a very spacious and well apointed room, mini-bar, in-room electric safe, granite bathroom nice tub/shower, cable central a/c.
You will be located right across the intersection from Champs Elysees MP, a stones throw from Cleopatra and a straight shot taxi ride down Asoke and only 3 or 4 min. from soi Cowboy and the Asoke BTS station. Ý

PINGA: Certainly, it was a pitty that you couldn't have a chance to see the fishbowl during your first visit. However, it is rather amazing and unfortunate that you could not see the fishbowl by the time you were dragged to see the sideliners, since the fishbowl is placed in the other side of the hall and almost opposite to the "sideliners lounge" .
Never mind, now you know your way and the brothers will follow the tips. Ah! the prices quoted in your post are the ones I usually pay. Just to complement the information provided in your post I would like to mention that the fishbowl girls (around 30 TGs) are available for 1.9K/2-hr service.

Emmanuelle, a disappointment!! Take a taxi from Sukumvit at around 5:00 p.m. It took 25 min. to go there with the traffic. Went in Emmanuelle, a big place with a large fishbowl. Went over to the model side. A few of them were sitting there. A papasan came over and recommended this one girl whose name is May. she is slender, European facial, white skin. Actually there was a looker sitting further down but decided to take the papasan's recommendation which is a mistake. Went over to pay 2600 baht and went uptairs to a room which is very nice, muh better than the rooms at Annies and Darlings. Gave me a soapie and BJ. Went to the bed and have sex. No french, covered BJ , no AR. Very bad attitude. The suddenly out of the blue she said I was fat, but I am 5'8', 158 lbs, no potbellie, Asian American. What the f_ck!
