If there is anyone there you want to follow to her next place of business, you better go get her number now because the business is so run-down the girls are leaving the place.
My favorite girl left long ago - miss her. I went into Darling last month, looked around, and just walked out.
Some of the girls still there were attractive enough, but I just could not get past the idea of over-paying (2,500 + tip!) for a smelly old room - reminds me of some of the low-class places in Cambodia.
And that guy that runs the place was just so foul tempered - I had no interest in talking to him. I did not even want him around me. Like he didn't care if you stayed or not, HE was still getting paid the same.

Good to walk,, but taking crap from the guy that runs the place,, no way never. If you have been polite, non agressive and basically a good customer tell him to go f*** and elephant.Just walking in these situations leaves the problem for the next farang,, maybe a farang with far less knowledge in things Thai, lanhguage, respect etc

... Mel... it is really not so difficult to figure out... or, jeez, maybe it IS, for people who do not read, travel or think.
... this is a service business... foreigners (presumably Darling's customer base) have a different expectation of service than most Thais... if the Darling manager hasn't figured that out, he will fail... well... they HAVE failed... this is no longer a time when you needed only to throw open the door and turn on the "OPEN FOR BUSINESS" sign.
... a younger, more international, smarter and more competent generation of business leaders is now emerging in Thailand... look at the service orientation other massage joints, like Tulips, Eden and Annies, feature... look how they re-invest in their business and training and re-training their staffs.
... no sense in putting up with the Darling papasan's indifference, eh... I think most foreigners will favor busnesses with better service orientation, even if their girls are less attractive... because they do not understand this, old school Thais just do not have the ability to successfully do business with foreigners.

I wouldn't bet on the demise just yet. To be honest, this place has been a dump for the 12 years I have visited. The two papasans haven't smiled or acted pleasant for that much time either. And they remain open for business. As long as they are located in prime Sukhumvit area and have a new batch of horndogs anxious for release, they will get by.
As for the owners, I have no idea who they are but the concept of renovating has been lost on them probably from the days of the dinosaurs. It has paid for itself many times over and now is pure cash. Kinda like "I don't use it, so WTF do I care what it looks or smells like!!"

Agree a little run down but still in better shape then Annies... Also the girls at Annies, lets be honest, are well past sell by date... Prefer girls at Darling over Annies. Who cares about the guys at the door... Don't go there to f*** them... Do we? Had good and bad experience in both venues but Darling girls did mostly a better job.

I popped into Darlings a couple weeks ago. Inquired to the prices, looked around at some nasty looking ladies and thought "you gotta be kidding".
Walked out!
A few years ago the place was ok and had nice ladies, oh well!

... I heard on the street that Darling's finally got rid of those dour old papasans who were so very skilled at making sure customers did not return, and replaced them with younger mamasans capable of understanding how to win farang business from the competition.
... also, that they spent some money on long-needed room renovations.
... has anyone a first person report?.. has Darling's truly changed, or is it just more empty words?
