They are following the lead of places like the Grand President: too popular, inflated self-valuation.
As though there aren't 100s of venues waiting to take their place...of course, there are legions of the idle rich, reading this, and saying: "B1500 = $35.00!! Actually, CP2 is NOT the high end, as I've pointed out before. But there are enough choices there to satisfy most, and if it's not the most deluxe, it is certainly good value at ~B1700, all inclusive. A couple hundred for a tip, and a few baht for some refreshments makes a nice afternoon break.
At this stage, I emphasize performance over looks, so I don't seek out the 'superstars'. Just good bodies, and sweet demeanor, and some skill, and I'm there.
The B1000 joints like Happy House, Annie's, and Texas (in Yaowarat) have their place, but a nice, big fishbowl and professional service is worth the few extra baht...

P.S. - Here's a clue to a treasure hunt: Phayathai Massage in the Phayathai office building, near the Phayathai BTS station. The operative word is Phayathai.
A gem if you find it and miss the tour busses.

I went to Annies about 10times during the last two weeks of feb 2004. I did not get any ghonorrhoe nor another VD.
Among the Girls (Bath 1600 and usually 500 Tip) I spent my time with there was a single one for nothing. One "Tom" is excellent (for sex only, not for massage. I took her twice) and I felt she really loved hardcore action.
The other Girls did between a good and very good job, where always friendly and I felt myself well treated there.
The Thaifood in the restaurant below was always delicious if you like real Thaifood. It's anyway worth to stay in the restaurant for a while as the girls from upstairs often come down to have a snack. It's much easier then to choose one as they behave completely different than in the fishbowl.
