I plan to visit Atami on my next trip to BKK. To avoid a taxi "surcharge", I want to get off at a hotel close to Atami. Anyone know of the closest hotel to Atami? And how long does it take from the hotel to Atami by foot?

Don't walk straight away towards Atami when you get out of the cab.
There is always the chance (big chance LOL) that the taxi driver is on to you and he will try to follow you to Atami so he can still collect his "fee".

Careful. I have had tuk tuk drivers tell the pappasan there that they brought me by following me in while trying to take me somewhere else until they reach the door. My Thai was not good enough to argue for long and neither was my will power. This has made me frequent this place less over time which is unfortunate. I could possibly win this argument today. At the time. Mai bpen rai.
The sign is/was pretty decrebid but it wasn't a tough walk from the skytrain. Just don't miss it. It is kind of in an alley that opens up.
If you reach the cp's you went to far but being as you are already there now you might as well try a cp and try again tommorrow.
I've had one of my best ever soapies at Atami but that can be said of any other place at any given time. It all depends on the girl you end up with.
5 - 10 min from sky train as I recall. Hope I'm not giving you bogus info on distance. There are maps all over this site and I think its on one. Once you soapy you will throw rocks at the girls when you return home.

Get off at Nana BTS, go down Sukh Soi 3 until you reach Petchburi Road, turn right and walk to soi 43 (opposite side of the road).
Deep Diver is probably a fast walker ... I would walk it in around 15-20 minutes (total length of soi 3).

Just got back from paradise. I gave lousy directions and was on the wrong street entirely. Hope the poor guy didn't use my directions. the cp's are not on petchburi. My memory must be going. It sucks to get old.
