So many guys on this and other forums have posted about J One as not being a good place to go to.
The so-called gang of papasans who try to rip you off from the start, in between their deliveries of coach-loads of Japanese and Korean tourists, will be obnoxious and quite objectionable. You're presurized from the moment you enter the place to pay way over the odds for maybe what might turn out to be a mediocre experience by an experienced lady, althoug she may or may not apeal to you physically.
I'd avoid the place at al costs. It isn't going to change. They have their income secured in the block-bookings through tour companies. Your entry is just seen as an additional opportunity to make a few thousand more by quoting you inflated prices.
But, O.K., if you have money to burn and are proud of it, by all means, get ripped off, in the false belief that you are getting a high-so, better quality service. You are not.
Go down the Ayuthaya Road a little way, if you can't wait to go anywhere else and pop (?) into Chao Paya 2 on the other side of the road. Just the same quality if not better and standard prices and no rip off and no falang surharge.

Yes, Dickin Situ is right, there is papasan mischief in this place, but pretty much limited to those they identify as newbie one-time customers. These newbies are the guys who get given the 4000+ quotes and told false histories of the girls.
However, once the papasans know you, falang or not, the service pattern changes. No silly price quotes, no surcharges, accurate description of girls, pretty good service actually...
You have to accept in this place you get ripped off the first couple of visits, and you need to tip the papasan generously at first, and let him know in a good humour you understand the game they play there. He'll remember you then and the newbie routine will stop.
After being recognised, I get along fine with the papasans - no surcharges, girls arranged on request, and often a VIP room or extra time thrown in free.
Recently remodelled entry lobby, sideliners moved to the former cafe area, which is now like a bar/lounge to the left on the entry doors.
Expect to pay 2000 or so and up depending on the girl's category, and for a good quality top floor "VIP" room maybe a little extra. Avoid the VIP rooms in the afternoon, they leave the aircon off until the room is occupied and being top floor it gets beyond hot.
The quality of the girls here is not above average, but with good luck there may be an exception to that who appeals to you at the time you visit. For me, this is the issue... average prices, but just average quality, so generally there are better places to go just now. But that can change.

I think I've been to the J-1 four times now, and each was a good experience. I've never tipped the papasan and I've never been charged more than I would expect to pay there, the last time was 2000 baht, in October. Prior the papasan, a younger one, gave me his card and wrote that I get a 10% discount when I visit which I used.
Besides prices the ladies at the J-1 have always provided exceptional service.

Yeah, I think the guys saying that the service and gals at J-1 are of sub par quality just have a case of sour grapes. I mean if you even compare the gals at J-1 to CP-2, you'd have to be blind not to see that the CP-2 girls are almost all over the hill or weight limit when compared to J-1. True, and argument could be made saying that they are going for that middle age/weight niche. That said, sure, there are several gems in CP-2. That said, when you compare general Ratchada quality or even just going down the road a bit to Plaza, J-1 and CP-2 fall waaaay behind.

I think I'll go with Dickin Situ on this one here.
I've known a few guys over the years on their two or three monthly visits trying J-One again and again and each time coming away disappointed and disgusted with the treatment that they have got from the papasan bandits, even though they have been recognised as repeat customers.
The only reason for them returning foolishly again and again was that they have been aiming to get a particular girl, one of the few who have worked there. but since the pattern persisted, once the particular girl moved on, they have never returned.
Personally, I would have no inclination to go through the ripping off experience that these guys offer just to gain normal access to the one or two girls who sometimes surface there who may or may not prove to be a memorable experience for me.
As for Chao Paya 2 down the road a-piece, admittedly there are some service providers on the Thai massage section who are definitely not on the younger side of 30.
But you have the Super-stars section and the full-blown everything-goes-mattress-body slide section besides the side-liners ( who are sometimes exclusively rolled out for discerning clients ) and if you have the time to drop in frequently to see what is on offer at different times of the day, since this place employs full-timers, part-timers in the day, part-timers in the week and month, occasional drop-in students when their studies and the absence of supervisory parenting permit, you will find some crackingly good looking girls.
And their services are not of the Ratchada variety in price either. And anyway, who needs to travel all the way up to Ratchada and end up paying more for no less quality in service or looks ?

It'd to be expected that the place will produce some disappointing experiences for some groups of people considering it's a place that caters to locals and eastern Asian foreigners.
For myself, I live off of Ratchada so it'd be the other way around for me. As for quality, again, everyone has different tastes and standards, you have some guys out there who'd pull a flat nosed/squat gal or in some cases a LB from Buriram out of Nana and swear she/he was a doppelganger for 'Um' Patcharapa or 'Ploy' Cherman.
OMMV, literally.

The price I've always paid at J-One (and quite recently quoted) is 1,800 baht for fishbowl girls.
I always start the routine with papasan or mamasan (she is pretty nice) "so what are the prices today?" in Thai of course. They get the hint and price drops to normal rate.
