I like the hot spicey Thai food, perhaps a little too much of the chilli which of course then kills all the natural flavour and you are just eating like the chillis. Sometimes when I travel I want some dolmades, souvlaki and to wash it all down with some Retsina and Ouzo (mixed with a lttle water of course).
Now I find the baclava too heavy and sweet so I end the meal with Greek yoghurt mixed with honey. That is the food of the gods !
But can I find this in Thailand? Have they the Greek restaurants? Maybe they don't have the charcoal for the meat, I don't know it's sometimes too hot eating this Thai food every day.

If you ever get to Phuket there used to be quite a good Greek restaurant opposite the CN Bungalows. The owner is/was Austrian and I thought his food was OK. I got my Thai GF plastered on Ouzo.
That's if you can get across that road ! Traffic crazy!

It wasn't great, but give it a try and see what you think.
For me
taramasolata too runny
pitta bread too soft
Food too bland.
I went with a real Greek food fan, and they never returned.
Only Greek restaurant I know in BKK, and yes can confirm the one in Phuket is still there. Can't remember the name.

Athena sounds diabolical although even the Greeks in Greece are a bit to fond of serving the food on the tepid side? I was in Athens with some friends during a cold March (Sleet !) They led me down this dark side alley and I am thinking where are we going now ! ? Through a side door and there is an enormous charcoal fire, the heat blast was really quite welcome. Old kitchen type tables and chairs with plastic table cloths held in place with large metal drawing board clips. Some squeaky bouzouki music playing in the background. The retsina arrived in metal mugs that had seen better days. The lamb, souvlaki, yoghurt, dolmades were out of this world. I doubt whether any tourist would know it ever existed. One of the most delicious meals I had had in ages! I don't remember a lot else after the Metaxa as we went to some club called the John Bull in Piraeus. And people say parts of Thailand are seedy? Nothing on the John Bull Saloon !

A general idea rule is.....do not expect your food to be exactly like home..... when travelling.
I eat everything while keeping this rule in my mind....and I never had any problem.

No chilis they not think it tasty !
How you taste the wine with chilis ?
