three of my fave places are 1, tip top on suk road near soi 22 ish, open late after the soi 11 to 13 last hunting ground not sure if they still serve alcohol after hours as was there 2 years ago. 2, nipa thai restaurant in the landmark, expensive but nice, used to have a thing with the ex hostess, and think they still use her pic for promotion.

My 5 Centvos: The new Seafood Market Rest. (If it swims, we have it) on Sukh. Soi 24 is a must see, quite an impressive place. Extremly large (railwaystation hall typo) the best seafood you can imagine, quite expensive though... You mall-type buy all the food, walk to you table with it and then tell the waiter how to cook it. Yes, they provide excellent assistance if you're not familiar with Thai food both for shopping and cooking. For Indian food the Bukhara on Sukh. at the corner of Soi 7 (Biergarten) is a nice choice with good food in nice surroundings and a strong A/C (note this for march/april) The most frequented restaurant in BKK (some 99% utilization) is a *very* basic open air (but in the house) Thai rest. named "Suda" or something on Sukh. Soi 14 just a few meters from Suk. Very funny place because really basic but crowded every nigth with loads of Thai, Farang and even travel groups... Don't mix with the rest. corner of Soi 15. Same same but different... Opposite of it is a 5* typo rest. ("Sukh. House 1" something) which looks totally dead every night just enviously looking at the f*cking busy Suda rest. Hilarious...

Many nice places too eat in BKK, many mention, but I miss one place that I dont eat often but a place for special occasions is the Vertigo at the Banyan Tree Hotel. On the roof outside on the 61. floor it is amacing. If it is hot down on street level it is OK at the Vertigo! http://www.banyantree.com/bangkok/dining_vertigo.htm A place too dine at least once in your lifetime! And not because it is cheap! Z

Z If you like your steak deep fried in lard, overpriced and served up by a smarmy waiter, that is. Stick to the cocktails here I reckon, but I agree, who can fault the view? If you go down a couple (1 or 2?) floors the Thai restaurant called Saffron has much better food.

lemongrass has also changed its chef. It's nowhere near as good as it used to be. My favourite place is Silom Village Seafood Restaurant on Sukhumvit 23. Hard to find and taxi drivers often get confused, but it's round the corner from Glow and Narcissus. A nice open-air place - great food and nice atmosphere.

Ummm.. hard to explain exactly, but if you know Suk soi 23, you'll understand. It's a winding soi and you seem to turn a few corners yet remain on the same soi. I'll try to direct: Soi 23 from Sukhumvit. Go past Cowboy. Turn right about 300 metres down the road at a place called, I think, Guisto or something like that. Straight down that road and you should pass by Glow on your left and - a bit further on - Narcissus on your right. Past Narcissus, the road bends to the left (straight ahead of you is a carpet gallery, I think). When you come to a small set of shops (massage parlour, mexican restaurant etc) you turn first right and you'll see the place. I'm sure people more familiar with the area (Manuel, RTB etc) will provide better directions if I've got it wrong. There's also an easier way to get there from soi 33. Jump in a cab heading down the soi (ie not towards Suk Road) and ask them to take you to Soi Cowboy. Everytime I've done that, the taxi has driven past this place.

Scobie thats right although you don't strictly speaking pass by Glow on your left - you pass by the sub soi that Glow is on. http://www.glowbkk.com/contact.htm Otherwise you're off on a windy soi round and round getting lost routine
