My bad man... sathorn soi 11 is it...thanks!
it is about 100 yards before assumption and they start setting up at like 5 in the afternoon...I am not really a fish kinda guy but he makes some amazing pla....
There used to be a suki restuarant down across the street that was packed as well everynight but I understand it closed...something shady about that...
I used to live nearby for a year and half so I know the area...but I guess after dinner with mrs atl and a some vino was confusing silom with sathorn....
anyway, its a great little find and trust me when I say thai/chinese jerry garcia...its right on..

Been there few times, the food is always fresh. Their Steam seabass with soy souce is highly recommened. Stir fried sliced morning glory is also good.

Best Chinese food I've had BY FAR.........
Actually should say Sichuan, is at a new place in Phuket called Hung Fat's (gotta love the name too)
The entire kitchen is actually from Chengdu (sichuan province) it is the "real deal"
Great live Jazz playing out of New York City as well.
The place really was amazing!!

It's in Kalim Beach........past the school on the right side if coming from Patong (just opposite the big tree that sticks out in the road) Well past the Novotel. Pretty big 2 story place, but easy to miss as they don't have a sign out yet.......
Try the Chengdu Pork if you make it there *amazing*

Anymore info on the topic as I'm back in BKK for a while along chinese relatives??
Taking some friends out tonight with kids and looking for some place with large round tables and good food, preferably cantonese.
We tried the Chinese restaurant in Oriental last week and it was decent. Also tried some amazing seafood restaurant a friend brought us to which was excellent and offered cantonese and Tiecheow specialities. We were six adults and 2 kids and I had a glance at the bill which was only 5500, although we ate more than enough and drank quite a few beers as well. It was somewhere in Pathumwhan and I really need to get that adress, as had the bill been 2 and a half times that amount I wouldn't have buldged.
Reminds than Southern China is a paradise for food, so anymore advice on cantonese restaurants in BKKwill be most welcome.
Latenight, stomach can't cope with this messy overly flavoured thai food.

First we went to check the chinese restaurtant in Dusit yesterday and didn't like the location much so we moved to Shanghai 38, on the highest floor of Sofitel Silom. How could have I missed this place so long while going regulary to V9 a single floor lower?
Very nice restaurant, with an impressive view over BKK and sophisticated design - it did remind me of some restaurants we had been in Shanghai with Bund view but the food is mostly cantonese, which was OK for us. Service is also very professionnal. I will definetely be back soon.
If you have a few guests make sure to call ahead and try to book a large round table by the window. Your guests will very likely be impressed.

had dinner at that restaurant at Silom Sofitel on my parents first trip over...was very good food/service..nice dinner party for 7 (mom/dad/me/mrs atl and 3 friends) for about $230....although the $ was worth about 40/1 then.
and I might add the hotel was exceptional and to this day my dad says it was the best deal he ever had at a hotel..

Bringing your ‘3 friends’ to dinner (TG1, TG2, & TG3) would have shocked mom and left mrs atl unimpressed, but explaining the concept ’This Is Thailand’ over dinner would have at least got you a pat on the back from dad
