I won't be going to Uzuki following Jojje's report. It's this sort of 'treat the customer like an idiot' crap I also dislike
I had a welcome drink voucher from President Solataire (given to me by HappyJohnny) recently that I cashed in when paying for a couple drinks. The voucher had expired a day before. The expiry date 28th looked like 29th. I queried this point voucher. She wouldn't budge
I wasn't going to argue the point any further as I wasn't the guest staying there, & paid, but it left me thinking this is bad practice to piss-off (in her mind) a guest of the Hotel spending 3000 B+ a night, all for a 125 B drink
If the Hotel/restaurant lemming employees were able to think outside the square & think about good customer relations like management hopefully would do, perhaps these issues would not arise

I guess the Doc expects everyone to do what he does when he doesn't like someone or they respond to his less than positive comments.
Put them on ignore. As I hurt his feelings by posting what he said, but one of the guys he had on ignore was curious if he had just posted the typical this and that "I am the forum cop"
I guess it is sad to think someone of such quality can't handle disagreement so they ignore it...
And just so this is relative to the thread, I have a friend staying at said hotel, and will ask if he has had this problem and post the results here. I personally won't go there based off of the reports given here.

Isnt the Net chat rooms, reviews and forums great. Always post for bad and good service it's good to know.
After a week staying in a suite at Arcia (S?) in Patty they decided to charge me a $ for a missing spoon? WTF!
Never been back - never recommend it again - that simple - keep posting.

Jojje was just letting others know beware of another scam and MOST of us thinking of staying at the said hotel would be happy not to fall into the same trap, like your on vacation who wants a problem.
I can't comment on what the dr says as he has me on ignore also, how about some of you guys quote him now and then so us on iggy can join in, than that would foil this ignore BS.

Yes, I agree, and I did ask my friend, he said he hasn't been to the Uzuki, but I warned him of the scam and he said he wouldn't go (saying again that all the others he had gone to on the "discount list" honored it).

Jojje, frankly, after 3 pages of this thread, I noticed there was only one poster that disputed your approach. In itself that should not constitute fair ground for you to hand in your towel and "walk out of the building" -- to use those historic words of your bete noir  -- or to escalate him to a "group of people" when he is really only one ! You would also be doing a grave injustice to the countless others who read this forum in order to be informed and forewarned. Therefore, I would humbly suggest, that you modify your view that there is "absolutely no meaning to enter any tips, reports, warnings or other useful info on this forum" as it is not true. Please keep posting
Second issue: In a situation like this, where the so-called discount partner refuses to honour the discount, isn't it logical for the affected customer to hold the advertiser (in this case, the hotel) responsible for the lapse ? In UK Shaga's case it would be the publisher of the brochure. If the hotel, that advertised the promo, washes its hands off it would -- to me -- leave a bad taste about the hotel rather than the restaurant. I tend to think it is up to the hotel to redeem its promise since the deal is between the hotel and the guest and, at the point of the deal, the restaurant is not involved. There is, of course, a secondary deal between the hotel and the restaurant, which is up to the two parties to sort out between themselves without affecting the promise made by the hotel to the guest. IMHO.

I have read this thread with increasing interest. I am not a keen lover of Japanese food, but would estimate that a typical checkbin would be approx 1500-2000 for a single person, for a decent meal with drink. So we are talking about a mere 150-200 Baht in dispute - and some of us are getting very aggitated about this. Whilst I am not defending this as just putting it down to a "Thai" thing - and Christ I have been subject to numerous scams over the years, the original poster has quite rightly got his own back by warning brothers about this place. He also presumambly left no tip. In my book if a few people are now going to avoid this establishment then that is worth 150 alone, he should be happy and put the amount of cash into perspective - just one ladydrink.
On a separate issue on the very few occassions that I have had the misfortune to "slum" it at the GP, I have obtained my discount at the German Restaurant without hastle - once even forgetting my room key but still getting the discount.

Don't let doc lub stop you from posting. You make some good posts and there is no reason to let him cause you heartburn.
The simplest way to get rid of him is to catch him in a lie or general screw-up. He will then put you on ignore and you can relax.
Just ask him when Songkhran is celebrated in Pattaya.

I have no doubt that what Jojje says actually happened. I find that they will give you the 10% discount and than up your bill 5% if you use a credit card. I only want to balance some of the other comments I have read. First, it isn't a third rate Japanese restaurant. It is quite typical of what you might find in Japan in one of the many mom and pop type places and the food quality is very good. I base this on 25 years of getting fat in Japan. If you eat well and drink some beer you will spend around 1000B. You can eat for more or less obviously but thats pretty typical for me. The saba is some of the best I have ever had either as sushi or grilled. They have something they call ika teppan which is supposed to be squid cooked teppan yaki style. In fact it is grilled with lots of garlic and pepper and is quite spicy. Unlike anything I have ever had in Japan but very tasty.
The point is, that in my opinion, if they treat you fairly on any discount you may be entitled to, it is in fact a pretty good place to eat and often at least 50% occuppied by Japanese.
