Finally bit the bullet & decided to hit Charley Brown's. Location. Suk Soi 11. Just beside Subai Subai Massage in that C shaped cul de sac. From Suk - if you come to the Ambassador hotel you have gone too far.
Lots of parking for my mororcycle at the chained down barricade. As we walked up to it there was a pretty blonde falang lady sitting outside sipping a Margherita. She seemed pleasant enough.
The place is well decorated & the menu comprehensive. I had fahitas (mixed chicken beef & pork) & a cup of Guacamole`. Food excellent. The manager "Chris" was over to our table several times to make sure we had everything we needed.
Best Mexican in BKK that I have tasted. Prices - expensive. For those who stay at the JWM - very very cheap. My girl didn't want to eat any of it & my bill was close to 700 baht (sans alcohol). 10% service added onto bill. I would go back. Very attentive staff. Reccomended for Yanks who need a fix.

You say Amb is too far..... so you mean walk down Soi 11 and it is down some cu de sac ? On left or right ?

Close to "Cheap Charlies" - in that same sub-soi area.
Agree with the above poster, good Americanized Mexican as other posters have mentioned.

Walk down soi 11 from Sukhumvit Road. Take your first left at the sub-soi. You'll see Cheap Charlies bar to your right and some cheap and nasty Indian restaurant straight ahead.
Follow the subsoi around for 50 metres and this place is on your left. 3 mins from Sukhumvit Road, maximum.
Havent tried it myself, but it's on the list.

You're right about that Mr. Alan. Sorry, but the people who are calling Señor Pico a great Mexican restaurant must not have much experience with Tex-Mex food.
I am glad to learn about Charlie Brown's from this thread though. I'll be giving that a try soon - maybe as soon as tomorrow.

Hey Scobie, have you actually tried that "cheap and nasty" Indian restaurant? Actually, there are two of them there. First of all, they're not that cheap, at least not for Bangkok. You can expect to pay at least B300 or so per person. Second, I thought the food in both was pretty good. Maybe not the best preparation, but it tasted ok. (I like the one on the left better than the one on the right.) At least it's not bland like some of the other Indian restaurants in the area. (I would never have imagined that Indian food could be bland, but some of the Indian places in Bangkok manage to pull it off.)

Well, it turns out that Charlie Brown's is closed on Mondays. I went by there tonight, and it was shut up tight, to my grave disappointment.

Did anyone make it to Great American Ribs All U can Eat MEXICAN FOOD for 199 baht last night. it was packed and the food ran out at 9pm. Excellent. all the need now is a bowl of guacamole and it wil be even better
it will continue on every Monday Night for the whole month of August.

decided to try the buffet tonight. Had a nice chat with the owner. Place was mobbed.
Unlike other buffets your food is cooked to order. We arrived at 7:30. Next time I will try & arrive closer to 6. Chicken Enchallidas "finished" about the time my second plate arrived.
The Monday night all you can eat Mexican buffet has been extended - "until further notice" end of the year at least. I would guess it is the busiest night of the week now - instead of a snoozer. Brilliant marketting ploy. The staff were run off their feet. Food was excellent. Caution - the food is so good that you will be tempted to overdo it - as I did. Well worth the 199 baht. Delicious.
