I was there last Cinco De Mio, and it was an OK holiday buffet for the price, though most food was cold by the time they got it out to the buffet. Looked at the prices on the menu though, and it was no bargain. I can see why they are not there anymore.

... Los Cabos remains open... as mentioned above, the Dubliner (apparently losing their lease at Washingtoin Square) bagged on a deal to buy it.
... agree with Deep File, that "high-end Mexican" is self-conflicting... the Mexican that is popular is simple peasant food... seems a better business play is to keep it at that level... inexpensive, filling, major dose of carbs.
... a new joint called El Diablo's Burritos in a cheap-o location at the end of Sukhumvit Soi 22, and Spartan furnishings might have a better prospect for enduring.

Los Cabos had lost their lease, at least that is what RTB told me some time back.... so magnum, they had a white-knight buy them out?
There is an authentic Mexican place across from Town Lodge on Soi 18, an added bonus is that they deliver to Toxic...

Always wonder when they say authentic what is it authentic to. Tex Mex? Real Mex and so on. As in Thai food Mexican has many styles from many regions to include Tex/Mex. So what is it authentic to? As for me I like Tex Mex not Mex! Been to Mexico and it is not my style. Los Cabos is Baja style.
Also just cause the cook is from Italy does not make Italian taste good. It may be in fact authentic but the cook may not be a good cook. They also have many styles and I liked some better then other when I was there.
Having eaten in both places I would have to say Los Cabos is the better of the two. I could not eat the Soi 18 food it was so bad.
I heard, yesterday, Los Cabos will sell or close this month. I wish Rob all the best.

From what I heard from some bro's the one across from Toxic ranks pretty good.
I have been to Los Cabos and I am afraid they failed the enchilada test. In Asia most 'Mexican Restaurants' are fajita houses which is Novo-American cuisine and certainly not Mexican.
I have spent over 30 years looking for Mexican Food in Asia and the only one that passed the enchilada test in in the Roppongi in Tokyo and that was in 1983...

If you ever get to Ban Chang, south of Pattaya, drop in the Beaver Bar and get a good old South Texas style enchilada.
A friend of mine owns the bar. He is from the Valley and his enchiladas are to die for.
Also has a nice stable of girls that might be worth spending a few hours with.
