Surprised this long-time joint did not merit it's own thread before now... but, I guess Larry's Dive is no longer what it used to be.
Driving by this morning, I just caught out of the corner of my eye that it is boarded off and apparently under renovation.
Anyone know if Larry's Dive is down for the count?.. maybe lost their lease due to unrealistic rents pushed by the new Holiday Inn under construction across the soi?
Or, is it renovating, with the unrealistic expectation that yet another desperately needed BKK hotel will drive greater traffic to this location?

A month or more I walked in and Larry said sorry they couldn't serve: "restaffing... operational obstacles" or some such. After that, boarded up as you say. Too bad. Don't know what is the big picture there.

Mercifully deceased, and well deserved. One of Sukhumvit's all time dogs. Now replaced by "No Idea" which might be the lamest restaurant name to emerge yet in a town that has many runner-ups. Nothing special, but much better than Larry's Dive, which worked overtime at living up to its name....

I remember the whole blender full of margarita's with ice - and the fat potato wedges with sour cream and a late 30s woman sitting across from me sobbing that mother was sick-
It was May 2002 and f***ing hot-
Drank three jugs and took her to the hotel and sucked warm milk from her breasts -
I recall after sex vomiting up the whole concoction and thinking what a crook mix it was-
I wasn't sure if it was the food and/or jugs at "larrys' Dive or hers that triggered the class afternoon-
She said she loved me too much Knocked of the snacks and left
She got 500 baht which back then was acceptable-
I remember passing larrys next day and watching her at it again-
Yes boy that place was special - the smirks on the waitresses face placing down your sour cream said it all
