thanks for the info JD.
i would never go for the tourist thing,but i understand what you mean.
first time i ever visited i was on a package tour and stayed at a non-guest friendly hotel and cost me a lot to have fun at night.
i never stay anywhere near the beach,the nearer you are,the most expensive i found.
never interested in the beach anyway,other things were interesting in my opinion.
but i would still cry myself to sleep if i paid 800 a night for a hotel room.......

HJ, Jaidee or Nokna - Can you suggest a hotel recommendation or two?
-Not to expensive but not a dive either.
Also maybe a gogo bar... or do you prefer the beer bars?
The last time I was there ('98), the GG scene was kind of bland.
Any good MPs these days?
I like Pattaya but there seems to be more things to do in Phuket.

I like Pattaya but there seems to be more things to do in Phuket.
For hotel you have to be more specific, you want a pool, food at the same hotel, mini-bar, phone in the room.
The hotel I go is a nice clean and quiet place with A/C private bathroom, satellite TV, guest friendly but no pool, no restaurant or food serve there, no bar, no mini-bar (have a refrigerator in the room but you have to buy your things) and no phone in the room. They also rent motor bike. It look like a appartement with service instead of a hotel. Let me no if you are still interested.
I never go to gogo bar in Patong or Bangkok or Pattaya so I can't give you my thought about those.
I am not a fan of MP either but there is a big popular one in Patong call Christine Massage, I know they have some in Phuket Town but I know nothing about them.
Now Patong is the capital of the beer bars and you have to move around those and I am sure you find a girl that you like and you will have a lot of fun in those beer bars.
The other place to find attractive girls are at the 2 big discos, Banana Discos and Star Wars of Star Trek I don't remember the exact name because it was the Shark Disco before and they change the name in 2003. Lot of beautiful freelancers there.
And yes there is a lot more things to do in Phuket than Pattaya outside the bar scene and the beaches around the island are the best in Thailand.

http://www.marriott.com guest friendly.....its the big boy boom boom hotel. I knew a guy who rented adjoining rooms.
One for ST and the other for sleeping! My hero!

About the cost of Puhket don't forgrt the $135 US to get there from Bangkok.
Nokia where in Patong are you getting four rooms for less than 800 B? I paid 500B and thought I was getting a deal.
If you are looking for TG in Patong dont forget the FL bars there are two at the top of Bangala road. Aloha

well documented on the forum where i liked to stay.
but i did get a discount as i was a regular visitor.
i hear the place has closed down and my e-mails to them have been unanswered for many weeks.
but when i recommended the place to friends(told them to mention my name),i always got a thank you e-mail from the head receptionist.
i presume you are talking about Tai-Pan and V.I.P. when talking about FL Bars?.
FL's?,don't you believe it,many of them are there after S/T's from their bars or are having their night off from their bar.
many of them are in the P4P game and are not the 'normal' girl looking for a bit of extra money.

How crowded is Patong this year?
Someone who hos been there recently and can compare it to this time (june-aug) last year?
I'm comin back in august and are kind a worry about some postings "only 10% of last years occupancy"..
BTW Nokna cant wait for "I Meet The Girl day 26.."
